My StrengthFinder results revealed strategy and execution. Along with a digital strategy companies need to execute on that strategy. To reference football, you need to get out of the huddle and snap the ball. Otherwise you will get called for delay of game. And note well the penalty is greater than a few yards.

Thank you for this! Without strategy, it’s not possible to align business intent with appropriate technologies. I’m astonished how many senior leaders simply do not understand this. Enterprise, data, and solution architecture is also critical to digital strategy, and executing projects defined by strategic direction. There is not “direct path” to becoming an architect either, and it’s not something that is taught readily within universities. Keep up the quality YouTube posts 👍

As a College teacher, I've been thinking about what our digital strategy should be concerning education. I think we need to treat our data generated as a commodity like transformational companies are doing. In a lot of ways education is like manufacturing. The three parts of the digital strategy you mentioned will be useful. These short videos are awesome!

So, I've just retired from a government position overseeing contractors in their electrical engineering and power distribution processes. I've done years of work in reliability and reliability testing, and I've just completed the IEC-61508 training on safety related systems which fits nicely into my reliability background. Now I'm learning programming languages online and trying to figure out how all this comes together in IIOT. I'm seeing a lot of work on automated automobiles, the new smart grid, the waste of energy in "clean hydrogen", grid level power generation, etc.. and how IIOT, reliability, and hazards analysis can, and in many cases should be integrated. I want to learn more about the "one center of truth" (backend) with the many use cases developed in the multiple front ends. How is this developed, is it unique to your organization, or is this a COTS system able to be implemented with any customer based on their digital strategy? I see a lot of IIOT technology solution providers out there providing 5G, WIFI, Bluetooth, etc interconnected devices, but I don't see the power of what was talked about in this video. I want to learn more.

Hi Walker, this means that the strategy for digital transformation should be only one which is creating the one source of truth by creating the unified namespace that fed with all inputs in real time irrelevant to any industry, then why not just directing companies towards this objective and strategy, it is clear, unified and straightforward strategy

Wonderful insights Walker as always.. but just for a broader perspective from consulting POV - can you illustrate some digital strategy examples instead of the use-cases which normally no one is sure about at initial stages. Like if we talk of Pharma, for instance, that industry is still stuck into old age documentation mess and hesitating to move ahead into digital Txn. What would your specific queries be for that?

It seems almost all orgs at this stage would benefit from the same 1st sentance 'have a single source of truth for all information in the organisation'. This problem comes up so often. To what extent do you think there is a benefit to an organsiation deviating from this? Great video. Thank you.
