Switch stick needs like a half second post snap delay so I don't end up controlling someone I can't even see right as the ball is snapped because I was trying to slant my DLine in. So tired of that switching me to some random CB from my MLB

So glad I found this channel, these videos are just excellent.

There’s no fluff, no annoying YouTube persona, just the straight dope and lots of it: the focus is on the information, he respects our time and gets straight to the point, the information is both technical and presented in a digestible way, the tips are helpful, the logic behind each tip is explained, and everything’s presented clearly with examples.

Easiest sub of the year.

i played a ton of match in college.. the problem is, match is a tagged call to 2 by 2 formations.. we almost never ran match to a 3 by 1 because that would involve taking the LB out of the box and putting them in coverage. it requires on field communication in order to pass off routes. all that to say that i agree, never play that in any football game bc there’s no communication and u can only be 1 player at once. good video!

Great video. Appreciate the depth you went into and love the concepts.

Only thing missing is user depth on tackling and attacking the ball in the air. I think there is a lot to teach there.

Slow downing down. Sprinting into over pursuit is so common.
Lay off the hit stick and wrapping up. The hit stick are a missed tackle waiting to happen if you're not perfectly timed up. Dive tackles only for chasedowns.
Using swat if you're not in position for an interception. You can really break up a lot of passes with following through with the swat after the catch.
Rallying to the ball with the switch stick: get your man there, wrap/start animation, switch and bring another for the hit stick/clean up.

Great job of explaining drop zones, including how far deep or shallow one player is playing compared to another player. I'd like to add something that may seem simple but, it can catch the CPU/opposing players by superise. Flipping plays. If you're blitzing the right LB in 3-4 about 2 ot 3 times in the first half, in the 2nd half flip that same play to where the left LB is now blitzing and the right LB is dropping back into coverage. Little things like that can disrupt plays and adjustments the other player/CPU has made in protecting the QB.

I call hard flats too when its a screen play but my defenders literally just sit there and stare and wait until the receiver catches the ball to do something

Right now the zones are broken I played a guy yesterday that kept running a play where literally no one would guard him unless I ran man.

Disagree with not using match coverage. Just using spot drop coverage will get you torched depending on the situation. On third down generally: 3rd and medium=Cover 1, Cover 2, or Cover 2 man. 3rd and long=Zone match Cover 3 Buzz or Tampa 2. 3rd and very long=Pure zone Cover 3 or Tampa 2.

Next time demonstrate against random play-calls if possible. That would better demonstrate the effectiveness of the tactics you are sharing and also allow people to see how you handle the process of reading and reacting.

It's crazy to watch this because everything you mentioned I learned on the fly when I got the game Friday. I felt like a noob haven't played Madden since 08 and all the ncaa games never had these elaborate defensive options. Great vid tho appreciate the tips 💯

Without watching a single video on defense, cover 4 drop (this is my first down prevent defenses against non “elite pocket” QBs) cover 3 sky is my number one option for every game and then I’ll mix things in between depending on what I see from the opponent. Cover 2 is just unusable for me because I constantly get killed by post routes or hole shots on the sideline. The best thing is having a top notch dline amd very physical, fast linebackers. Corners are non existent and safeties are a luxury.

Dude, this was so helpful! I've found so many videos covering reading defenses from the offensive side of the ball. But, not enough people talking about how to call and run a good defensive scheme. Thanks!!
