Lorde - Tennis Court (Lyric Video)

Check out one of our new favorite songs from a new artist Lorde, recently signed by Universal/Republic. Presently Lorde is a 16 year old New Zealand singer/songwriter who's real name is Ella Yelich-O'Connor (hmm...yeah i think Lorde is a bit cooler than the birth name hah). "Tennis Court" recently went #1 in her homeland of New Zealand and hoping for more great things along the way. We liked it so much we made our own little lyric video.

You have to think about her songs. She said herself she loves short stories and poetry, and now she puts them to music. It's not supposed to be easily understood, she wants you to think about her music. This one is talking about being well-known but being disconnected at the same time. Like she is in life right now.

I'm not trying to compare her to Marina or Lana and most definitely not Florence in fact the 3 women are completely different themselves, but I feel that she has the potential to become as amazing as they are. Just by being 16 and having such a compelling voice she's on her way

Well, to be honest, she sort of does sound like Lana in this song, and Mariana in other songs. It's not an insult, and it's not like we're saying she's unoriginal.
Of course she has her own uniqueness about her voice and her music, but you can't blame people for noticing similarities.
Besides, I bet if Ella heard somebody comparing her to Florence, she wouldn't be upset about it...
