Is Kyiv, Ukraine Worth Visiting? (Exploring Ukraine's vibrant capital) 🇺🇦

Kiev is a city of many facets. Its trendy boulevards, verdant greenspaces, imposing monuments, onion-domed churches, and massive squares evoke memories of European capitals to the west. However, this is not a city cut from a cookie-cutter, but remains unique and one-of-a-kind, with its own signature vibe.

Often nicknamed the "New Berlin", Kyiv is a pulsating city of energy, hipster culture, and amazing cuisine, offered at a fraction of the cost that you'd pay in the rest of Europe's capitals. This city is as cheap as Mexico, parts of Africa, and Southeast Asia, and your Dollar (or Euro) will buy you a lot here. It's perhaps Europe's best kept secret: an incredible slice of Europe at a quarter of the cost (if even that) of the rest of the continent.

During my visit to Kiev, I enjoyed checking out the stunning Maidan (Independence Square), its many impressive Ukrainian Orthodox churches, the pathways and sculptures of Volodymyrska Hill, and the touristy but stunning Andriyivskyy Descent. There is an energy in this city unlike anywhere else in Eastern Europe, and the city deserves a place on your travel bucket shortlist.

I loved Kiev, the metro is so easy to use. I agree about the Stalinist architecture, monumental. I took a day trip to Vinnytsa to visit the Werewolf. It was Adolf Hitler's forward command post in the summer of 1942.
