I can't say that I think this should exist. But I can say, with confidence, that I read it. Live reactions are here.

I believe Edward is also mentally/emotionally stuck at 17 so it makes sense why he’s in constant turmoil…he eternally belongs in high school.

I read somewhere that Rosalie thinking about her own beauty was a way to get Edward to stop reading her thoughts. He hears her thinking about herself and mentally rolls his eyes and moves on.

"there is no way Edward has double the thoughts that Bella has!"
He doesn't sleep 😭😅 he definitely does. Plus he has everyone else's thoughts in there 😂😂😂😂

I haven't read the original trilogy in a long time but reread Midnight Sun recently. Really liked the insights we got on Jasper through Edward's POV and how James didn't notice Bella right away.

Thank you so much for reading this story and giving us your commentary :) Midnight Sun is so dear to me lol. I adore it with my whole heart, it’s unhinged and hilarious and as an og twilight girlie, it captures for me, better than anything else, that particular flavor of angsty-earnestness that brings me right back to being 14, depressed, and so wholesome.

Edward Cullen having one long panic attack for the entire 700 pages of this novel, counting bugs in the meadow in order to tame his thirst and let us know once again how god-tier his multitasking skills are, chasing James across the whole of Canada, and crushing the bottle cap as a symbol of his failure to protect Bella, ughhh it’s so emo and fun. I cannot wait for you to read new moon - the plot development is 🤌🏻🤌🏻 thank you so much for doing this!!

I'm starting to realize Edward may have been the catalyst for what has become an obsession with dark slightly murderous and toxic mmc

One thing I need you to know is that this version of Midnight Sun is an "improved" version. The leaked 12 chapters from back in 2008 were... much worse. I distinctly remember that when Edward first goes to watch Bella sleep, he is still considering killing her. It also didn't have everything with the Cullens - it was basically all about Bella. Stephenie Meyer largely rewrote it (to much better results in my opinion) and it makes it this insane, unhinged, hilarious look into Edward's POV.
Now if you want to REALLY laugh, take a look at Stephenie Meyer's FAQ on her website about all the Twilight lore (I *think* her website still has much of the same content. There's answers to the mechanics of vampirism as she imagined it and some things about the plot and it's so good.

I agree with the hereditary theory about Bella's powers. Women usually get an interesting part of their father's DNA signature because remember the male side of the equation is what decides the gender of the baby. It would make sense that her power is enhanced but still traceable to Charlie.

The first part of this book was amazing, but after a certain point, Edward's self-hatred and obsession with Bella became a bit repetitive. If this book had been 200 pages shorter, it would have been excellent!

my absolutely favourite headcanon is that bella and charlie are just autistic so edward can’t read their thoughts logistically and for lore purposes it’s not true but i loved it. explains bellas personality a lot too.

++ also on edward being dark/creepy. it’s pretty traditional for gothic literature to have taboos like this. he’s a vampire, he’s not going to be taking her out for ice cream, you know? gothic literature has to be weird lmfaoo. ALSO author is a Mormon… so Edward’s protectiveness and like … pushiness of bellas boundaries is likely some … gender stuff from being a Mormon. the Mormon stuff gets MORE prevalent later.

Out of those extra stuff you mentioned at the end, you should probably read the short story The Short Second Life Of Bree Tanner. The main bad guys of the series show up in New Moon and are pretty important for the rest of the series, particularly Breaking Dawn, and Bree Tanner’s short story gives some information on them that makes it worth reading. It take place during the timeline of Eclipse, so I recommend reading it before Breaking Dawn.

I genuinely smile when these videos come up on my feed. Thank you so much! If you're looking for another series that came out of this era, maybe divergent or mortal instruments.

As someone who only has ever watched the twilight movies, I love getting additional insight from your perspective on the books. So excited for you to read and watch new moon! And yes, your shelf is very nice

Jasper has a specific characteristic that I suspect might impact your ranking… no spoilers though, see you in a future twilight book

Edward might be 17, but that doesn't stop him from referring to Bella as "the child". What a prince charming.
