Never thought a British bloke would cover a Filipino-core topic

Budots is so Filipino core, I can't describe it, but it's mostly used by the masses. If I heard someone playing budots abroad, I feel like I would be instantly transported back to the streets of Manila.

Budots is for people that cannot dance or dont have confidence to dance so they can enjoy the party.its ment to be silly funny, laugh with it, not on it

As a filipino, I've always thought of budots as dance where u just have fun regardless of looking ridiculous while doing it (the more ridiculous u look the better lol) The trend I've been seeing r just ppl dancing as if someones pointing a gun to their head forcing them to dance XD

As a Filipino, I'm not really a fan of Budots. But it's interesting how it suddenly became so viral on Tiktok. Like how? Why?

Budots is the musically equivalent of a Halo-Halo Sundae. It's bright and colorfully because the most random sounds get on there and the composition makes them fit. Somehow my fellow countrymen are still at it.

Is this how Russians felt when the internet ruined Phonk?

I've waited years 11 years for budots to die out. Now thanks to tik tok I probably have to wait another 10 years.

As a Filipino I think it's funny that budots is the dance tik tok chose to do the trend with but I ain't complaining. I'm actually glad it's going mainstream it feels watered down with the trend but still

Budots is when you dance like a drunkard but still snaps to the beat.

Budots is from Davao City in Southern Philippines. For almost 2 decades now we hear it played in the streets on daily basis; and in barrio parties or fiestas. People consider it joyful in right contexts but could be mighty annoying when timing's not right. Also the dance steps are inspired by indigenous tribal dances. It uses lots of samples from other songs and random soundtracks or effects.

I think budots' best international comparison is to Harlem Shake. It's supposed to be obnoxious, loud, and exaggerated. That's its "charm".

You get plus "cool points" if you can actually dance or have cool moves, but mostly it's just about wildin' and having fun. Definitely not the cute and dainty outfit trend dance. But it's the internet and trends morph and change all the time. The "modern" budots is probably heavily influenced by the Harlem shake to begin with.

i used to think filipino stuff online seemed cringy. but as time progressed i started seeing more representation, and it became the norm almost as if it's in mainstream. then i had a revelation, perhaps it was supposed to be cringy in the first place! and that's what made it awesome. it's just crazy and quirky and its what defines filipino humor, and i love it lol

Budots is a freestyle street dance that originated in the Philippines. It is characterized by its high-energy, improvisational movements and is often performed to techno or electronic dance music. The dance style gained popularity in the early 2000s, particularly in the southern region of the Philippines, and has since become a cultural phenomenon. Budots dance is known for its playful and uninhibited style, often incorporating humorous and exaggerated gestures.

Budotz originated in Davao City, Philippines where Sherwin Tuna comes from. Budotz is a local slang. Sadly, you don't have the earlier beats; you might enjoy it. Most budotz songs have Cebuano or Bisaya (local language) phrases/lyrics. I am genuinely surprised it has spread abroad.

Budots is just a dance for goofing around, every dance is budots in this budots beat. I'm kinda happy as a Bisaya to see this?
