So many procedures- IUD placements, HSGs, etc- have a lack of pain management options and it’s not right. At least give women the option and let them decide if it’s worth the expense.

I JUST had a hysteroscopy this week for polyps & hyperplasia. I cannot believe patients are not given sedation for this procedure! That is so wrong! I had a biopsy from a different Dr & it was SO painful! Thank you for educating patients!

You are so awesome! There are less and less doctors like you. So many of have dealt with care that is not compassionate. Thank you for being great

When I got my IUD, the ONLY pain management I got was "You can come with a friend if you want." I assumed they offered for chaperone/emotional comfort reasons. The first hint I got was when the nurse offered to stay to hold my hand- and when I said that I didn't want to take too much of her time, she insisted that if even 1% of me wanted her to stay it would be worth it to her. I was so grateful to have her hand and support, but neither of us should have been in that position.

When I saw the original video I didn’t want to open the comments because I KNEW what they were going to say. As someone who had a literal D&C performed on me without my consent in a small OB office- the one reason I found out is because I went into shock from the epinephrine they gave me without my consent (I kept saying “something is wrong I think I’m having a seizure” all the while understanding if I were seizing I wouldn’t be talking) and then they started talking about all the stuff they had Been doing to me while I was WRITHING on the table, I would like to know when male and female obstetricians alike will be held responsible for their actions?

I've had both a D&C and a hysteroscopy and I was out for both procedures. I was not in pain after my D&C but was in a fair amount after my hysteroscopy. I CANNOT imagine having to undergo either procedure completely awake. Those poor women 😢

I had one without sedation but they did use a local anesthetic as the cervical canal needed to be dilated. I was extremely nervous after reading so many negative experiences on the internet. I did feel some pain but really very minor and both the doctor and nurses were very kind, explaining every step along the way.

I think it is the minimising of the potential pain so that women don't think 'I should ask for sedation or find out if it is possible' telling me that inserting an iud to my childbirth free cervix will pinch and I might have a wee cramp- gaslighting when it is extremely more painful than the cramps that caused you yo have it inserted in the first place!

Thank you for making these videos and spreading awareness! I had this procedure done today and I'm so grateful it was done under anesthesia.

Hi Dr, Lora, i love all your videos! Thank you for taking the time to
Make them. I’m going in for a diagnostic hysteroscopy and have read that it's normal to not be sedated for that procedure. But if I need a surgical hysteroscopy to go in and remove something then they will sedate me. Is this true? If I need to advocate for sedation then I will! Lol

The Dr. who did this to me admitted she tortured me today and was not able to gain access into my cervix, I was very traumatized

My best friend didn't get any sedation during her hysteroscopy and told me it was super painful, I ended up needing to have one done recently and my first question to my doctor was "how are we going to manage my pain?", without hesitation she told me I had the option of anesthesia. My procedure went great because of it and she was even able to remove most of a large uterine fibroid that's likely the cause of all my problems...yay for the good doctors out there!

I wish I had sedation; I was told it probably wasn't needed. I had an attempted procedure a few days ago. My gyn could not complete it before of my excruciating pain. I, and my family and friends, are outraged at my traumatic experience. I'm emotionally and physically exhausted and depressed. 😢
I am not ready to go back to work, but I know I have to; I'm ready to consider a partial hysterectomy just so I don't have to "deal with this"

I literally had this procedure this past Friday under sedation I was soo happy for this However I have been suffering with severe muscle pain throughout my entire body since I woke up. I had this procedure 4 years ago awake I swear I would never do it again unless I was under . Today is day 3 of this muscle pain caused by the anesthesia 😢 procedure itself was fine as a Merida was placed as well.

I’m going to have a diagnostic hysteroscopy sometime soon, and I was told I wouldn’t need to be put to sleep. Is general anesthesia only for operative hysteroscopies or also for diagnostic ones?

Not in the UK When my wife had 4 done it was straight in with the speculum and then the camera was shoved in. No pain relief at all.

I was awake for mine and it was one of the most painful things I have ever been through. I wish I knew I could have asked for a different way.

I had one and accidentally yelled. It scared the medical providers. 😂 The first one I had was by far worse though. It took him like forever to get the catheter through.
