I think they confused DBZ Kakarot with Xenoverse. Kakarot is a retelling of DBZ's story. Xenoverse has you as a time patroller, protecting the timelines from evil forces trying to change them

I think you may have gotten Kakarot and Xenoverse mixed up Kakarot is similar to the ninja storm games were you play through the events of the anime and have dlc packs telling original stories based on other dragon ball media
