Saikhom Mira bai Chanu won a silver olympic medal in the ongoing Tokyo Olympics 2020 in the women's 49 kg weighlifting category. She thanked her mother and her coach Vijay Sharma. She lifted 87 kg in Snatch and 115 kg in Clean and Jerk segment totalling a score of 202 kg. Karnam Malleswari won a bronze olympic medal in 2000 Sydney Olympics in 69 kg category. She was the first Indian woman to win an olympic medal and first Indian to win a medal for weightlifting. Here I tell the inspiring story of Mirabai Chanu from being a village girl of Manipur's Nongpok Kakching village to winning an olympic medal.

I am from Manipur and she recently said she used to travel on trucks that carry cement, to practice and the drivers would pick her every day from her house and she used the money for travelling for her diet. She also said she would donate money for the truck drivers. Its so emotional and inspiring
