Failed Pentecostal Missionary Tongues

The early Pentecostals all believed that the gift of tongues consisted of authentic human languages. Both Charles Fox Parham (Topeka Outpouring) and William J. Seymour (Azusa Street Revival) believed that. How is it then that most of today's Pentecostals and Charismatics identify the gift of tongues as a spiritual language? The truth is that the redefinition of tongues happened because of a public embarrassment in the founding years of Pentecostalism. I call this event the Great Pentecostal Disappointment. Find out more about it in this video.

Great job as always!!!! Love the way you expose the error of the redefinition of tongues!!! This is something that has been buried by Pentecostals and for good reason because what you have exposed undercuts any argument they have! Incidentally, I live in Kansas east of Topeka. Keep up the GREAT

I am just grateful that I have been relieved of the hyper Calvinistic dry eyed religion that was forced upon me as a child. I absolutely adore the peace that comes with my prayer language as well as the beauty of not having to prove anything to anyone in the context of sweet fellowship with my triune God. I spent years in the penitentiary watching false signs and wonders that were demonic to the core, and it always came on the wake of beautiful God-given miracles signs and wonders in tongues. There will always be a false with the genuine. That is just the way it is in the war that we are in. I am a front line disaster relief responder as chaplain and physical response. We see miracles often, and experience a genuine language miracles as well. You better be careful what you’re stepping in as you discount genuine members of the family of God through the blood of the Lamb. I love all of you guys in the spirit of the living God, from Bastrop Texas, Brent

Raised as a Pentecostal charismatic I would’ve likely dismissed this church history 30 years ago, having had what I thought was a genuine experience of speaking in tongues as a teenager after seeking “the baptism..” for probably at least a couple of years. It’s taken me quite some time to be settled in what I believe regarding it. While there are definitely many fakers who simply make it up as they go, my experience was a very emotionally driven but genuine experience that reflected my expectations from years of conditioning. I’ve seen the video proof to also know that such experiences are not limited to Pentecostal Christians.

Hi Andreas, I really do appreciate your videos about the deception of tongues. Not many people directly address this issue. I believe we are yet to see more people coming out of this deception. Like you I have been many years in a hyper-charismatic church (even neo-charismatic apparently…) where tongues was extremely emphasised on. A few months ago I questioned it, did my research and by God’s grace I understood how false it was. Your video with Doreen Virtue then came just at the right time! I have stopped now and in no way I am backsliding or missing out on anything (like they say it would), on the contrary it makes everything about God and His word a lot more clearer and simple- and a less lot mystical. Thank you and God bless you.

Excellent presentation as always! The controversy over ‘speaking in tongues’ has both confused and baffled me for years. Thank you for continuing to bring truth and clarity to a very complex subject amongst Christians.

Merry Christmas Andreas🙏 I was just thinking all these “tongues” sound identical everywhere you hear them. The same sounds and lots of “ha ha.” There are thousands of languages around the world but these false sounds never vary. They seem to be speaking ONE tongue and no one seems to be able to identify or translate it which is convenient for perpetuating their teaching of this inane babbling.
Your information here was helpful. I’ve been learning a lot about the beginnings of the Pentecostal movement on the channel: Leaving The Message they focus on William Branham and his cult of personality. Also the channel Long For Truth1, they focus on all the characters you mentioned and more. It’s truly chilling and demonic. God bless you brother. 🙏✝️

Great teaching, I really hope this teaching leads those in the Pentecostal Movement to see the truth regarding this topic.

My mom is a Pentecostal who claims that tongues are the norm, tongues have ceased and she doesn't believe that. Thank you for reaffirming it.

Wow!!! Thank you SO much for that Biblical and precise explanation of the incorrect interpretation of tongues.

Good job of sharing this historically accurate message. Pentecostal proponents will tend to hold on to their emotional experiences and learned behaviors in spite of biblical interpretation and historical accuracy.

Hey Andreas, thanks for this excellent presentation mate. tongues lol. As you well know, according to the scriptures It’s supposed to be an identifiable language and there is also supposed to be someone to translate what is being said. I have never heard someone speaking tongues speaking what I would consider to be an actual language. Personally I think that the whole practice is over rated and used as a scam more often than not. I wish you a merry Christmas and a safe, happy, blessed and prosperous new year. Blessings from Mark in Oz🇦🇺

I recently discovered your page via Justin Peters.

I gotta say brother, your analysis and commentary are always spot on! You are obviously well educated in the Word of God and theology in general, and I salute you all the way from Yuma, Arizona in the United States.

Please keep up the good work!

Appreciated your inclusion of the SDA and failed prophecies as a mark of those who are not true to the Word, but, make up theology and doctrine as they go along. It does show the fallacy of Pentecostals.
