The Best Bindings for your Snowboard

My Top Gear Picks

In this video I've got some advice to help you find the best bindings to match your snowboard. Snowboard bindings have lot of different features, but the stiffness is what makes them pair well with you snowboard. The difference in binding flex will make a difference in the type snowboarding you're doing. The stiffer the binding the more control and aggressive you can snowboard, while a softer snowboard will give you a more free feeling while snowboarding.

this guy is the goat. kevin if you’re reading this, you’ve put thousands of people on the mountain, and helped millions. people like you are the reason we ride on one piece of composite wood rather than two. and we lose the poles. keep it up!

I don't even snowboard but the content is just too good to pass up. Wish there was a channel like yours for skiing. Keep up the good content!

Union Atlas is my choice of binding. Love the medium stiff response for fast riding. Great control and feedback from the binding.

I really appreciate how helpful this channel is. After watching a lot of your videos I finally bought my first board after learning from what I've been seeing here. Now I gotta keep learning about the rest of the gear so I can make some more smart purchases. This was a good start for learning about bindings, thanks

One of the smartest things for a newer rider to do, or somebody that just doesn't want to buy or can afford a lot of equipment, is to get a more medium flexing binding, but one with multiple positions for the ankle strap. Then they can either lower the ankle straps for more mobility/freedom and tweakability, put them in the middle position for a more happy in between, or raise them all the way for more support and response, not to mention using forward lean in accordance with what you're riding and how much response you want with that (heelside turns) as well. Burtons are good for that, but then you don't have as much side to side stance adjustability, at least with their Re:Flex bindings, but then with Union, you never have any multiple positions for your ankle straps, but have really good stance adjustability. There are other brands that will give you both. 👍

Hey Kevin. I'm a new boarder. Got two days in this year. Bought my gear instead of renting cause I know I'm gonna be doing it for the rest of my life. I was a sponsored skater when I was in my teens so I have a good sense of riding a board. Anyways, I've been getting into your videos getting ready for next season and I gotta say I've learned alot from your videos man. My second day I was making down green and blue runs carving and not falling. But I had no idea about presses and even ollying on a snowboard. Thanks so much for all the great info man. My goal this season is to get your 10 beginner trick list down. So pumped!!! Thank you!!!

Yes! Union Atlas is a beast binding. I paired them up with the K2 Manifest and boy did I have some fun bombing japan powder runs. Excellent quality binding 100% would recommend & can take a beating.

I can vouch for the Arbor Hemlock as a really really good soft-flexing binding. In particular the moulded ankle straps are just perfect, they fit to the contour of your boot very well. The only criticism I would have is the forward lean is a bit fiddly to adjust, but most people don't tinker with that too much so it shouldn't be an issue.

Love the new studio space Kev, next step is gettin that audio on point. Lav mics would prob be best for a set like this. Also maybe get some sound absorbing foam or similar material in the studio to reduce echoing

Thanks Kevin, I will pull the trigger on the Atlas soon. I still laugh at when i met you and you were saying i was husky jajaja. That i might need a stiffer binding.

I'm looking at the Union Strata to pair with Rossignol Jibsaw for next season. I think TJ was riding with the Strata.

I have Burton Moto Boa (soft), Burton Custom Re:Flex(soft) on Head Architect (7 stiff).
I asked around if i were to upgrade a gear to improve control and power for freeride and Pow which one should i upgrade first. And redditors responded i should upgrade the boots to stiffer first.
Do you agree?
I had a hard time in Japow on my current setup.

I wish I had known this 10 years ago. When I first learned snowboarding. I got a really flat and stif board with a mid flex bindings. My board was slightly too big for me when I got it but I was 12 yrs old then. I’ve grown into my board and still fit most of my gear now. But I remember having a really hard time learning how to turn and move with my board. I often got caught in powder snow and gained speed quickly and for a beginner speed isn’t the nicest feeling when learning. I also didn’t weigh a lot for my age and height then. I still don’t.
