I had a Sledge 1.0 and it had issues to be fair .Now have a Black 2.0.I have owned over 65 synths over the last 40 years and the Sledge is one of the best synths I have ever used.

Are you certain that the noises and hiss weren't caused by forcing the unit to accept an incorrect voltage or current?

Good lord, I got some hate for this, and some in agreement....Waldorf stuff is top notch, I wanted a version that you can edit on the fly, enter the sledge! This one sounded shite, sorry, I was just being honest. Was it a one off bad model?? I had clicks, hiss, and sounded as if the channels were out of phase....both through the headphone jack ( tested on Sennheiser, Sony and AKG cans). The L&R and mono out puts sounded the same.
As for me stuffing a Euro plug into a UK socket....wow, how could I have done such a thing! Endangering the lives of everyone in the UK!....To be honest: selling an electrical Item in the UK that does not have a UK plug is illegal, it should not have been delivered to me like that, I bought it from a UK shop/store.
I bravely took the chance but remember folks :there was 230v AC delivered to a device that was not labeled as "double insulated" with no earth. I do understand these things, I'm big and grown-up.
As for the people calling me a whinger, go fuck yourselves. I've been buying, selling, using synths and drum machines for 35 years....I currently own :Korg MicroKorg XL, Roland D10, Roland Juno 6, Korg Prologue, Korg Volca FM, Akai MPC LIve, Boss DR110, Roland Juno DS88, Yamaha MODX 6.
I worked fucking hard to buy these while raising a family and paying the mortgage and bills, so when I pay £700 for a synth I expect it to be legal and have passed some kind of quality control.
I got tired of posting Youtube stuff after this sure, you don't have to like watch?.... This particular synth sounded shit, if you don't like that then fuck off and make some synth reviews yourself.
I feel better having got that off my chest. Cheers me dears xx

I've heard people speak highly of the sledge, so maybe you didn't give it enough time, but then again I have bought synths and re-sold or returned some in less than a week.

Right now I'm looking at the UDO Super Six, which I'm willing to bet you would love, there's NO menu and its filter sounds lush.

It is a fantastic synth despite its faults. I had a good laugh at your video ... when it finally got to the part about the synth. I felt exactly the same when I bought mine. I thought WTF have I done, it sounds completely sh!t. I have wasted $899!!! I do agree with several things you said about it though, except that you sent it back - You should have programmed it a bit because it's factory timbres belie what it can actually do when you start programming. The factory presets are horrendous - I have never had a synth where the manufacturer has given less of a fcuk about their factory presets! Either that or they actually thought they were good. Anyway they showcase absolutely NOTHING about the synth, and give a bloody horrible first impression. Mine does not have noise in the headphones or the line outs, which is great, but after the last update to 2.5.1, I started hearing clicks and pops in some of my custom sounds, that were not there before. Seems to have something to do with the wavetable, but either way it sounds like what you described. I wish you had recorded some of those glitchy sounds in the video. The reverb is indeed terrible and I can't believe some people actually like it. It is not usable at all (even though ironically I do use it), but that chorus is just killer - pretty amazing.

I still have mine and it has served me well. Capable of a massive array of sounds, with lots of low end and sparkling high end. The simple FM implementation adds a whole dimension to the VA sound and it really punches way above it's weight class. Having said that, I have admittedly never b!tched so much about glitches, software, and crappy service for any other synth, as I have about this one. I have been called out about it many times by those not experiencing issues …. but they will, trust me they will. Unless of course they do barely anything with it, and never interact with the software on a PC/Mac to transfer sounds … etc.

All that said, it is a fantastic sounding synth that I will never get rid of. I have programmed over 1, 000 custom patches on it, and would say I know it more intimately than any other synth I have ever owned, even some I have programmed far more extensively. You can take my words with a grain of salt of course, but I do consider myself an expert on the Sledge :).

I just hope it keeps lasting and giving me as much fun as it has. They just released version 2.5.2 for it, but to be honest I am sh!t scared to update it because so many people have bricked theirs during older version updates. Each time I interface it with a PC and their horrendous software, there's another sh!tstorm waiting to take place, so I'll wait until others "beta-test" 2.5.2, which wasn't even publicly announced, BTW.

I had one.loved the sounds you could make but that's it.it felt cheap and had problems with the screen and also memory problems.sold it after a few months and bought a dm12 .best thing I did.

For a synth that cost 756 € (current price) it is a great bargain. But, the reliability and reputation of Studiologic products could be much better and you are not the only one who complains about that. Their products are full of plastic and weird shit but the sound is always pretty good. However, if someone is looking for a synth that lasts for the next 10-20 years, i would never recommend their products. If someone is looking for a synth that lasts for the rest of his life or at least for the next 15-30 years, i would recommend Nord or Roland. Studiologic products can last about 5-10 years if you are lucky, then problems will come and repairing them can be tricky. They are not made to last but for a small money they do good things for a certain time period.

All Europe except British islands can use this plug. When Britain insists on their own incompatible plug system, they should provide adaptors. And yes, just in case, I have one of these in my tool box. / A comment from 🇩🇪
