Scott cawthon actually named him karl the cupcake to mess with his advertising crew because most of the character rhyme with what theyre based off in the first one (bonnie the bunny, chica the chicken, foxy the fox, and freddy the teddybear) and got a kick out of it but for scott it stuck and he was happy about
