The 2023 Nagaland State General Assembly Elections has come to a closure and a new government has been formed for the second-time by the NDPP-BJP alliance, reflections on the notion of a “free and fair election” is at hand as the usage of money, muscle power and violence have tainted the entire process once again. Tribal politics gets intertwined with modern democratic dynamics which at times comes at the cost of the overall progress of the state. Despite repeated appeals and attempts by concerned groups and individuals for good sense to prevail, it seems as though Naga society continues to turn a blind eye towards logic and reasoning evident from the current state of affairs.
