Interstate 24 Bridge Rehabilitation

Показать описание
TDOT is preparing for another major bridge project along Interstate 24 in downtown Nashville.
Critical work is underway to replace two twin bridges on the east side of the downtown loop. Built in 1961, the I-24 bridges over Spring Street and Oldham Street are suffering from advanced stages of deterioration and need immediate attention.
The rehabilitation project will reconstruct the bridges using the innovative process known as Accelerated Bridge Construction (ABC). ABC speeds up construction and repair of highways and bridges by allowing short-term, total road or bridge closures to allow crews the space to do their jobs and the freedom to work around the clock. This dramatically reduces the time to complete a project and the long-term inconvenience to motorists.
This project will require four weekend interstate closures from the I-24/I-65 split north of downtown to I-24/I-40 split south of downtown. During the closures, all traffic will be detoured. Advance notice will be provided prior to every closure, and project information, including detour maps, will be available online.
Work on this section of I-24 will also include pavement repairs along the entire two-mile stretch of interstate and pavement and deck repairs on the Silliman Evans Bridge over the Cumberland River.
This project will provide a safer commute for the more than 148,000 vehicles that travel this section of I-24 every day, as well as the motorists who travel under the bridges. The $28.5 million project was awarded to Bell & Associates Construction and is expected to be finished by June 2018.
