How to find Salamanders

Some tips for safely finding salamanders in a shallow stream

I live in a city and I maded a creeck in my garden. It was supposed to be used as a biogical filter for my koipound. And I introduced alpentritis the alp water salamander in my creeck . My creeck is full of plants and micro organism and litle annimals which is good food for my salamanders. They breading so much that my whole neighborhood have salamanders. The alpic water slamanders are black above and have a orange to red belly. They are verry much slower than the ones you showed on this vid. I try to keep away small frogs because they like to eat my baby salamanders.... One thing is for sure, you need a trained eye to see and find them. I also maded a terrarium with a lot of water and plants to breed those alpen water salamanders. They roll a egg in a leaf and when it was full of eggs I took it out to let the eggs commes out in my creeck... So a lot will stay here.

When I was a kid id just have to go out side after a rain fall and they would be in the ditches and basement window wells.. now I couldn't find one if my life depended on it. Same with garter snakes and huge spiders. I just never see them anymore. I go looking with my kids and can't find anything, its like they all just vanished.

I’ve caught 2 salamanders and I’m keeping them I caught a full grown spotted salamander and a red striped salamander which is still at least 2 years old because of the size
