I landscaped in Tucson starting in the early seventies implanted many citrus trees in the Landscape Architects insisted on using 4 inches of pea gravel for water retention because it held more water than organic mulch you are the only person on YouTube that understands the problem of so-called top dressing everyone so worried about drying out their root ball in between waterings that they forget that they're actually mulching the top of their pot keep up the good work your friend Jerry in Moab Utah

Beautiful collection. For heat you can top dress in pumice.

I hate gardening in zone 9, I have all my cactus and succulents in partial shade in summer and drag them all in the house in winter for about 3 months. I’m on the hunt for a crested cactus this year 👍

Hi cactus quest thank you thank you for sharing I just love when you take us along to the big green houses we see mature plants that are never seen otherwise its awsome i just love love cacti and succulents. One question why is it that the base of my astrophytums have all these dark brown marking at the base and to avoid my astrophytum from having such.❤
