An in depth review and demo of the Boss Re202 Space Echo Pedal. This is an emulation of the classic Re-201 Space Echo tape delay, which brings back that gritty sound in a small affordable unit.

I've been waiting for someone with a synth to demo the RE202, lots of strung planks being used thus far. A truly boss demo in the scouse sense. It sounds great in your hands and as an SH-101 owner to know that it sounds superb with that kit too is tremendous news. Many thanks our Starsky.

I have an actual RE-201 Space Echo. It’s a lot of fun, adds this spacey/creamy delay on anything….and squeaks a little if the rotars aren’t lubricated. 😉 You’ve done a great job demoing this experience in a much more affordable package. It sounds fantastic.

I owned an RE201 from 2006 to around 2018. Complete bastard to keep running, glad to have got rid. I bought the RE20 when it came out, side by side with the original, they are very different but this new offering is very close indeed, mine arrived 3 weeks ago. It's great.

With the original 201 the loudness is limited in feedback loop, much easier to control, and it sounds totally different. For me: Tape all the time! Great review thought. ThY!

You are always a inspiration you should do a shoot between this peda, l the Arturia Tape -201 and Audio Thing Outer Space just for the fun off it I have both of the plug-ins I think they are both great 👍

Great demo sir! Very tempted to get this at some point. Yeah it can be done in software (at least close enough when part of a fully mixed track), but I think there's just something about having the dedicated knobs and also the retro look of the hardware that makes this inspiring to use.

I've just became ever so obsessed with the Space Echo and I've bought UAD's Galaxy Tape Echo, Arturia's Delay Tape-201 and Audiothings's Outer Space. I've been comparing all three and the experiments have resulted in some amazingly trippy dub effects. This is an excellent exploration of a hardware option.

I have this pedal Starsky. The sound you made around 14.00m is top. I have this with a boss expression pedal. It is possible to programme the saturation, wow and flutter, repeat rate and intensity when your exp pedal is fully closed. When setting parameters, once you have set the first value, you can then select the values of saturation, wow and flutter, repeat rate and intensity for when your exp pedal is fully pressed (toe forward position) down. It can produce some really lush sounds that speed up and slow down by use of footpedal. In this format though the 'head setting' cannot be changed but nevertheless it gives punctuation to your synth voices while being hands free to carry out other tweaks across your equipment. It is worth the 300plus sobs to give that much more sculpting capabilities. Great pedal. Nice one Starsky.

looks a great performance tool. im torn between getting more kit like this and going back in the box as i can write so much faster in ableton using automation for builds etc. but this type of kit lends itself so well to impromptu jamming and of course gigging.

such a great review/demo happy owner of the Volante, and not sure if its justified to get this next to it, they seem doing the samen, just a different workflow. Anyone here who owns both?
