48:10 - 49:41 - Summary

In this video I have explained the concept of a manifold, what is a manifold, and the details of the Riemannian manifold. In this lecture video of differential geometry I have also covered what is a Riemannian metric and the history of manifold. The entire video lays down the concepts on a very intuitive mode, with minimum mathematical equations. The benefits of learning manifold and how we can visualize a manifold is also covered here.

I am not a mathematician, but I've employed applied mathematics to physical problems. Like so many of Sean B's videos, this one is a delightfully edifying illumination of the history and character of the concepts of differential geometry of curved surfaces and manifolds, a very clarifying video ideal for use along with textbooks (for the computational details) when learning the mathematics needed to describe and compute within the many branches of physical science. I Sure could have made good use of these videos when I was a student decades ago!

It is a very interesting video. Thank you for the great effort and nice pictures and animations because you gave me another geometric perception of .manifolds.

Thanks for your trace along the Möbius band. When used as a transmission belt in your other picture, the surface wear along the length of this Möbius belt is ½ that of an untwisted belt.

Thanks, for making a detailed video.
If you may consider kindly making videos on how quaternions rotate?
In the book visualizing quaternions the author andrew hason gives the demonstration of dirac delt trick (originally used to demonstrate electron spin)
Is electron spin related to quaternions?
Is the demonstration of dirac belt trick (2pi and 4pi rotation) related to mobius strip?

Congratulation! Very through explanation about Manifolds, using Loring and Lee books. Still waiting for FA videos
