Pickaroons are an absolutely essential tool if you get to my age and you want to preserve whats left of your back. Do not leave home without video .

You always make everything look so easy! I feel ya on that back pain, as my 4th L4 lumbar disc is degenerative and bulged! It SUCKS! Stay safe and healthy young Sir!!

Hook shape makes that a hookaroon. Pickaroons have pick head. Good work either way.

Looks like a very handy tool! You seem to do very well for having two herniated discs you're doing very well! Nothing to it really. Anyway thanks again John!

Nice. Don't need one, but now I want one! :-) Actually, doing arbor work, these are very handy to have. You can use an axe too, but axes are harder to release from the wood.

A new tool that also means less wear and tear on your back? Win win!

I have put a triangular point on mine that helps release it from the wood easier. Just a suggestion if you have problems in that regard.

Nice quality video. Thanks for what you do, now prepare for all the youtube comments of "improper splitting technique." Since they know so well on the proper technique.

Good video, enjoy watching do your magic! Pickaroon very useful tool! Off line question, I have a sense you have yellow paint on your feet? If I'm out of school and wrong, just a question, if I'm accurate, Semper Fi!

Might need to find one of these myself, I have two bad discs in my back also!
I think having a wood box, or a bucket handy to set your axe and pickeroon in to keep them from falling over on the ground would be a good idea, the whole ‘saving the back’ thing kinda falls apart if you have to reach to the ground to get your axe and pick for every log!
