One of my favorite things about chinese food is how most dishes don't have dairy, i don't usually have to scrutinize the menu looking for something that wont kill me lol

We have 12 year old Chinese students living with us and they just discovered cheese and they love it ! They put it on rice and microwave it 😂

Im also Chinese and my mom said she didnt have any milk when she was in China, and the only other "milk" subsitute was condensed milk, although it isnt really a subtitute for that. Lol

Australian born Chinese here. We had a milk program at school in the 1960s. Every school child got the equivalent of 200mls of milk every day at school. It was delivered in the morning. I got to hate milk because it was never refrigerated and in summer it was foul. The only cheese we ate at home was Kraft processed cheese ( we called it soap cheese) and occasionally cheddar cheese. I didn’t know other types of cheese existed until I started teaching and colleagues invited me over for a party. So I got to try Camembert, Edam, Gouda etc. I was a home Ec teacher and I was using cheese in recipes I’d never had at home growing up such as cream cheese and Parmesan. For years I only thought Parmesan came in that pre grated dried form in a container. Now I only use block Parmesan and grate it myself. My niece loves cheese and milk but is lactose intolerant. She has options of of buying lactose free milk, cream and cheese, but she also takes “Lacteeze” tablets when she dines out or goes to a function . It contains the enzyme lactase to help her digest lactose.

Every Mother's great confusion, i.e what to make for breakfast or lunch or dinner. I am saying coz my mother often gets very confused when the matter comes to cooking food. But she is the best mother, my best companion, I love her the most ❤
