MXA's Josh Mosiman and Josh Fout test the new 2025 Kawasaki KX450SR "Special Racer" model at Glen Helen. The update list is impressive on this bike. It has a modified cylinder head with polished intake ports, Pro Circuit Ti-6 titanium exhaust system, optimized ECU settings, Kashima coated forks with stiffer valving and an extra 4cc of oil, plus the rear shock has Kashima coating and model-specific settings as well. Of course, it features the XTRIG Rocs-Tech triple clamp with PHDS (Progressive Handlebar Damping System), Renthal rear sprocket and D.I.D ST-X rims, and D.I.D gold chain. We break down all the details in this video, our likes list, our quibbles, and what it feels like on the track.

You guys should do a RMZ 450 build similar to the SR, plus a shock and piston maybe, and compare the bikes and prices. That'd be interesting.

We need a VS video this kawasaki Sr edition vs the Honda crf450r works edition. Or just a works edition mini shootout video.

The the 2025 kx450sr is hands down the best bike I have ever owned, the bike is so fast on the aggressive mode it’s so much fun! i have the 23 SR and the 24 model as well. I don't understand why everyone is hating on the 24 KX 450 about the power, yeah it's a little mild stock but not anywhere as bad as people exaggerate it to be. I put on a full PC exhaust modified the airbox a bit and a vortex ECU and it now has more bottom end grunt than my 23 SR.

It's really $6k more because the normal model always has a ton of rebates.

I remember when Dirt Bike magazine started removing the counterbalancer from the can-am 500 Rotax engine and then KTM brought out their bike with the same engine without the balancer. Bye-bye can-am... happy revving...

Wait for next year; hopefully, AI suspension is going to be ready to be used on MX bikes. That means, no need to manually adjust for a specific track or specific conditions. Within a few laps the system-software will 'learn' the terrain particularities and adjust accordingly. This learning will continue throughout the course of an event, and adjust automatically while you're riding. And this will also level the field between amateurs and pros who have the best suspension mechanics currently, to figure out these adjustments.

Kawasaki continues to disappoint me by not reintroducing the modern KDX 200/ 300 to compete with the Betas and KTMs

All the previous SR heads I've seen is basically nothing done to it. Literally 10 seconds with a cartridge roll and that's it. It does nothing to help the power.

So for the extra price tag you get basically nothing, you would be better of just buying a brand new RMZ 450.
