Today's technology is making the cost of portable ultrasounds ultra-affordable. Many hospitals have added portable ultrasound units to their IV team's arsenal of tools for locating veins. Success rates for accessing veins have climbed steadily with the introduction of ultrasound. Inserting PICCs with Ultrasound includes an actual insertion, from patient education to final pressure dressing on the completed insertion. It offers 4.5 hours of continuing education and is best used in conjunction with the Basic PICC Qualification Training Program.

Just wanting to give a WARNING on PICC lines, they should never be
inserted into a person with total leg paralysis that only has their
upper body for transfers. The transfer from wheelchair to bed is enough
to severely damage the brachial plexus nerves, and cause permanent
paralysis to the patients arm.
