Thanks so much for sharing this report. I’ve been fighting Glaucoma for 8 years now with significant vision loss. Five surgeries later I’m doing pretty well. I run my dog 3-4 times a week and also have an elliptical here at home. I truly believe diet and exercise are the key to good overall health. And as what you say, good overall health is probably good for Glaucoma. At 62, I’ve got a lot more to do and I’m taking steps (literally!) to keep going! Thanks again!

I feel so sorry moving to Florida and having to find another ophthalmologist. I found one, but there is no comparison to the care Dr. Richardson provided to me. Dr. Richardson, you do an amazing job and your videos are very helpful as to understand, in a clear and simple way, what this glaucoma thing is all about and what to do to better co-exist with it. Congrats and keep your videos running!

I know this is 3 years ago ...
But riding around with the driver not paying paramount attention to the road is very unnerving for me.
You are too valuable to take such risks.
Thank you for the hope I recieved about eye issues. I'll walk more .And I am glad I didn't take Bata blockers. Thank you so much .Odd to feel like I went for a car ride. though haven't been in a car for a decade .Thank You, all the best from Vancouver BC Canada

Thank you. I appreciate these videos so much. I was devastated once my doctor told me I had glaucoma. And now I’m and disappointed and a little angry that my doctors (I have been treated by 3 different ones within my HMO) have not shared any valuable information with me about this disease. I have questioned them about a lot and the answers they give me are so intentionally vague I barely even want to discuss anything with them anymore. Like why didnt they tell me about the rffects of yoga (downward positions) and the different sleeping positions on ocular pressure? Those seem like simple things to tell a patient.

I’m in my early 30s and I got lasik in 2007. No eye doctor ever told me anything about having an enlarge cup to disk ratio prior to my lasik. I’m believe that surgery had something to do with me developing glaucoma. My pressure is also low. It has to my knowledge not been above 16. Have there been any notable articles about the correlation between lasik and glaucoma? If so, could you please do a video on it? It would be much appreciated.

Dr. Richardson, Thank you so much for these videos, I just love them. I have mild pigmentary glaucoma (had iridotomies done in both eyes a couple months ago and my iris is 'much flatter'). I have no field loss and hope to never have field loss of course. I know with pigmentary glaucoma they always say that exercise can induce a pigment storm. Should I stick to walking or swimming then? Thank your for your time. I know you must be a busy man

Hi David; just let you know that I am suffering Glaucoma and cataracts for over 35 years, and at all times I was gym doing all kinds of Crossfit workout for all most 6 days workout a week. In fact, I was able to control both without drug and surgery having perfect eyes sight 20/20 and eyes Pressure about 19 WITHOUT ANY DRUGS. However in 2017 I made mistake and I allowed Cataract Surgery by BEST Professor of University of Toronto; As result in last three years I lost more than %50 of my eye sight and now using 7 drops and tables to control Glaucoma that its pressure between 25 to 35! and said I would become blind. Thus, I honestly believe to workout to control Glaucoma and cataracts

Thanks for all the great info in this video and on this channel! I notice on days I feel eye pain that it is difficult to go biking because my eye hurts. I have had a stabbing pain in my left eye since 2013 which always happens in the mornings and goes away when I eat fruit, a granola bar, something with sugar. I notice the stabbing pain to be more of an issue in the winter time but it has occurred in the spring and summer time, mostly when the weather changes, like a day or two before it rains or snows. I will make sure to add more leafy greens into my diet.

iPhones have an accelerometer built in. The iPhone by default tracks steps that is accessible via the "Activity" app.
If you have an Apple watch, that tracks exercise even better.
The Activity app shows history of activity during the day, days of the week etc. so you can monitor trends.
Apple watch tries to encourage activity. Tracks heart rate etc.

Android has equivalent features although typically not from a single vendor.

Any fitness tracker will tracks steps and many will track other forms of exercise such as swimming. Including Garmin, Fitbit, Polar, etc. YMMV.

I have my own tonometer. I've continued to notice that moderate exercise seems to lower my short term pressure in my eye. Not clear if it stays low, but the lowering effect during and immediately after is pretty clear in my eye.

Thanks for the video. I'm a Glaucoma patient undergoing treatment for the past almost 10 yrs. I've watched a no. of videos on this subject suggesting various natural treatments to compliment the allopathic eye drops prescribed by eye specialists. I'm at a loss to understand why there's no cure found for this disease till date. Man has stepped on the Moon, now planning to colonise Mars; in doing so they spend billions of dollars. Can't they spend a fraction of the amount they spend on space exploration to find a cure for the most basic of man's need?

Love the picture Dr Stevens I have glaucoma overnight the FDA for driving in the UK stop me from driving a minibus and a special needs children for adults that is after a visual field test which I had a eye problem and any problem which is stressed out everyone gets stressed out soon as it comes to a visual field test regardless anyway I have glaucoma I've have adjusted myself to be safe f2b awareness to adapt and also when I'm doing the bus driving when I come home I have about 2-hours res that eases after pressure and I feel much better feeling forage had I known that you need to do exercise or laser treatment I would have done that in my early stages of this situation but unfortunately the the hospital did not tell me this and now I am not driving at all because of the FDA has stopped me surely it should be not just analysing the paperwork but doing a background check on individual drivers to see how good they drive on the road if they can do a CRB check on a person then it should allow that person to drive back on the road and there is another question in the UK fitness to drive means absolutely nothing when I go and see my GP or anyone profession they don't know what I'm talking about
