First Ice Fishing for Northern Pike in Maine

Just after the lakes first freeze over at the beginning of winter, fishermen hit the ice in search of northern pike.

Last January, Chris Megan and Jimmy Fee hit the ice with Zach Stewart, owner of Lakeside Lodging in East Winthrop, Maine. Zach shared his tips for setting tip-ups. Tip-ups are a simple and effective way to target first ice pike, but attention to detail is key to getting more bites.
