SAILING TO THAITI TO SAY GOOD BYE - SwT 156

This is probably the most difficult and hardest episode I have ever made, still, it needed to be done. After almost 9 months onboard sharing the adventure of our life this amazing person is now leaving BE FREE and flying back home. We discussed several options but landed on this as the best solution. Still, we managed to enjoy each other's company and make the best out of the last weeks, days, and hours together. With love and respect.
This was hard and very emotional, yet important to show that it's actually possible to do things with love. Setting someone free is also love, and this is what we believe we have just done. Sailing life is extreme in so many ways. Hopefully sharing this even though it's very private and not something we like to share, we hope it can give an authentic image of not only us as persons but also what real life looks like. The biggest lie online is that everyone can do this and that you should do it today. This lifestyle is hard and definitely not for everyone. We tried, we went all in, and we had a great time creating lots of good memories. Even in Tahiti.

From now on I'm sailing solo again, but first need to fix the steering and sort out some other things before I continue toward the west. The next jump will be 1500 nautical miles nonstop to Fiji.

Please be respectful and kind in your comments, we are only human beings. Ordinary people sharing our extraordinary life with you in good and bad.

Thank you so much for tagging along, and for the patrons helping to support making this video possible.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR WATCHING AND SUBSCRIBING!

You can also follow sailing with Thomas on other platforms for almost daily updated pics and videos, and even find yourself a new T-Shirt:

ABOUT THIS CHANNEL:
Sailing around the world in a Bavaria 55 Cruiser, making videos whenever we have time for it. I used to sail singlehanded and occasionally have sailing friends onboard. But now the permanent crew aboard BE FREE is including Gee from Holland. We are now exploring the Pacific Ocean.

Even though this is season 5 on YouTube I did not make that many videos in the beginning. Before full-time sailing, I sailed several seasons in the Mediterranean prior to this, and obviously also in Scandinavia. I have been traveling the world before and have also been an active regatta sailor. I had my first sailboat at age 7 and have been sailing ever since. Also, more than 10 years of experience in Search and Rescue at sea in Norway.

PLEASE BE KIND IN THE COMMENTS!
I'm just a normal person sharing my travel adventure through my eyes and experience from my perspective! Remember how I do things that might work for me but not for you. It might even not be the correct way to do things, and I don't have the blueprint either. I'm not perfect and nobody is. The day I believe I know it all and don't think I can learn new things I should go ashore.

Thomas & Gee this is sad news to hear. As "Bohlinsproject" said I do not know how you found the strength and courage to make this video and share it. Stay strong both of you and reach out to those who mean the most to you if you are having a dark day. As you said it is "See you later" if it is to be you and Gee will reconnect. Ultimately both of you must follow your hearts and what is best for each of you.
Stay strong and take care Thomas & Gee. Fair winds to both of you!

Thomas and Gee you both are so special people. Like you said before you say see you later. You never know what lies ahead for both of you. You both are better off for the great memories you have had together. Gee will always remember you, just you will always remember her. Life is not about how long you live but about living and experiences you have along the way. Thank you for sharing this with us. I understand this had to be the hardest video you ever made. Just remember you can always look at videos for remembering the great times you both had. Keep your head up and you have so much more to look forward to.

How on all vast oceans did you manage to make a video like this? I’m really, really impressed by both of you to be able to handle this separation. I’m definitely not sure I could have done it myself, and at a quality as this. Let alone the sound editing - the whole story telling is just totally strong. Again, I’m more than impressed!

Masterfully captured farewell in final shot. You could feel the strength of your bond and the agreement to gently release it. Keep sailing, Thomas.

Thomas, the life can be feeling unfair and cruel sometimes, unless it had a deeper sense at the end after some time. You‘ll never know, perhaps a new adventure starts soon… and maybe a new love….
I wish you and Gee all the best on each others way. May you both find your personal final harbors of life and love some day.
The world is full with beautiful people! Even if it feels unreal for the moment.

By the way, it was truly a very nice way to say „Goodby“ at the end of your video!

Thomas, stay safe in your next sea miles, and don’t leave us alone without new videos of your sailing trip.
I am looking forward to the real Polynesia videos where you will head next for sure after leaving Tahiti.

Love always finds a way. Glad you two were able to part ways in a respectful manner. Like you said living life as a sailor isn't for everyone. We we see every week on these channels the fun, adventure filled, happy times. Not many channels show the not so good days.

This is my first time to watch your youtube channel and I bumped into this heavily emotional yet so very balanced episode of a separating couple. I watched it as though I am on an emotional rollercoaster. What a video! In sharing these moments with such sobriety, resilience, indefatigability and courage is beyond words. Thomas, you are the "younger version of Barry, the Adeventurer Old Seadog", one of my heroes on the sea. I will definetely tell others about you, Thomas. I am sure Gee's experience with sailing the boat and her time on the sea is a memorable one. Good luck to you both, whatever trajectory you will follow, may your breeze be to your ease. 🙂

Thomas, you seem to be such a kind and gentle soul and a blessing to others. I’m so sorry the two of you won’t be together in the near future but hopefully you will be after that. As a sailor, I can understand how difficult it is to find someone who is compatible and who is willing to take the journey with you. My thoughts and prayers are with you both.

When you went to look for parking I actually felt those emotions. I’m proud to see two adults handle this situation with great respect. Be Free

Just checking in on your channel again, seems I have some catching up to do! BeFree looks in great shape after the Pacific crossing and everything! That was a heartfelt ending 😢 - you both seem so wise, harmonic and loving people. The future will be bright for both of you even if it’s maybe not so fun right now. Wish you joy&happiness, cheers! /windsurfSophia

Skjønner at dette var følelsesmessig tøft, synd det ikke var liv laga. Ønsker deg alt det beste og god tur videre. Oktober -24 er vi i Sydney igjen, men da er vel du allerede på farta videre. Take care
