New Jersey tree trimmer helps rescue over 100 cats in trees

New Jersey tree trimmer Steve Murrow is something of a local hero. In his spare time, he uses his professional skills to rescue cats stuck in trees. NBC News’ Kate Snow speaks to Murrow about what motivates him to help others.

That's really so sweet. Cats maybe able to come back down like people think, but if they are terrified and never been up there, they don't think they can come back down and can sit there and die.

I grew up on a farm with 20 acres of woods...and lots of cats. The cats always managed to get down from the tree they climbed. Some times they would sit up there for hours and call. When they tired of that activity, they would climb down.

NJ is always being put down. I've lived in many states and will say that the people in nj always seem the nicest. Something as simple as holding the door at a Wawa. I can remember the first time in NM the person in front of me just let the door shut in my face. I was shocked. But here in jersey we still hold the door for the next person. Well you can tell this guy is from Jersey. Thank you sir from one cat lover to another!

Cats can climb trees and they can come down just fine. This guy is great, but owners are clueless.

Too bad the owners didn't/don't love their cats enougj to keep them INSIDE!! HORRIBLE things happen to outside cats!! SOME worse than DEATH! Sometimes they get hurt and go off by themselves to die a long, painful death! Ig you love them, you protect them! God bless snd protect this man!
