In addition to giving a very good lecture on cdi boxes, you also gave a perfect lecture on how to make a good video: Loud, clear and well explained. Great job.

You have that ignate soul of a teacher, Nowadays i can proudly say i know all this by heart.I am a telecommunication technician and understand how these things work very well.I wish i had seen this video 3 or four years ago when the so called mechanics of Miami got me so frustrated that i decided to learn by myself, i feel i live in the outback, what a disaster..I have been through hell and back learning everything about scooters and motorcycles..I have had 28 motorcycles and scooters combined.I am 52..and nowadays when i watch videos of mechanics i can tell right away who is a part changer, like the ones i ran away from and a real mechanic that makes perfect sense like you..I give you credit, the highest credit for your true knowledge and will to share it with others..You do not need advertizing because you do know what you are doing and saying, and i am very proud of you..Even though this is something i know very well i want to thank you for your time and dedication..If i had met a mechanic like you, i would not know what i know today..Nowadays i love this, but when you depend on yourself to fix your vehicles without knowing these things, like it happened to me.it gets really frustrating, now at the end of the road i feel i have won a battle..I see more than a few thumb downs on this video, and these are probably dudes who are jealous of your high IQ..Disregard these pigs that only think about eating their next meal..These are the dudes who unethically oppose people like you and me, because we earn our living honestly with transparency and honesty..When you are good, and you are excellent, you can be showing it all, and yet you will become even a stronger magnet to attract great customers to your business, versus the shady dudes whose mechanical practices suck..i do not do this for a living and i have parts and tools most shops here in Miami do not have and thats embarrassing. For years i heard things from shop owners here that are too frustrating to mention publicly..One thing i do wanna say is, many mechanics would tell me that it would be better to buy a new engine than to fix anything in the gear box.I was not sure about that and one day i bought a 12 ton shop press and people laughed at me.Today after 12000 miles of hard riding i can tell you this.i bought all the ball bearings on line, and i rebuilt a gear box on a 150 cc from A to Z, i replaced every bearing by high quality japanese ones and this scooter glides, way much better than when i bought it brand new, totally smooth like a japanese scooter..i even replaced the ones in the swing arm as well as the gears..to make it even better i mix my own gear box oil using a viscosity chart and the results are amazing..but i have said enough and the truth is you are a great representation of what a mechanic should be in this great nation..Very few like you, you do make a difference, thumbs up and the very best for you, i feel sorry for pretentious mediocre part changers who live on scamming and lying to make a living

Man I'm new to gy6 engines. The way you explain things makes it so simple to understand how it all works. Thanks for the great information.

A great explanation of how the cdi works. After two or three weeks of searching, you gave me a plain and simple way to check my ignition system. Flustered and P Oed' I had almost given up on what or how to proceed. Thanks bunches for a great video. I now have a new trail to follow.

Thanks! Using this video and some wiring schematics I was able to replace a $271.90 part (32900-05210) (7 wire) with a $7.49 part (5 wire) and get my brother's Suzuki 125SP running again - after being dormant for about 30 years.

Great vid! A video about how to test the triger signal would be great too. Not just for resistance but for generated voltage while cranking too. And maybe how to simulate a triger signal with an AA batery to see how your CDI is Ok or at least ok to start your bike.

Best expl6I have seen on the CDI. My bike is currently being rebuilt and I am getting a performance CDI. This will also give you more low end torque and High end speed. Amazing what this upgrade can do for your ride.

I am working on a Honda 4TRX300 (that is the 4WD), circa 1996 or 97. The CDI is AC and it is as big as the wrong one (DC) seen in this video.
Only one of the wires on the CDI is where and what this video says. Not saying he is wrong, just saying the 4trax is different.
Black/Yellow striped: sends power from the CDI to the coil
Dark green: ground
Light green: is connected to the "reverse" gear switch (I assume it keeps CDI from sending power to the coil if gearing is in reverse).
Black/white: is from the run (kill) switch on the handlebar ( and is where the video says it is on the CDI)
Blue/yellow: is the signal wire from the pulser (trigger)
Yellow: is the power source directly from the stator area. It Ts off one of the 3 yellow wires that sends current from the stator area to the regulator (where it gets changed to DC for charging the battery). The T is BEFORE the regulator, thus, we have an AC CDI.

Yes I really got a lot out of your video about the CDI box. My Honda Trail ct110 has seven wires not six and I can't get a CDI box with seven pins what should I do? Your video has helped me but please if you want to make a video for that it would be great. I wish I could just plug & go. [Also subscribed] oh by the way my cdi has sowlen and the casing is chipped the bike starts to sputter very bad at 35mph and even quits. Please reply 🙏 what to do with the wire with no pin?
