I appreciate the attention to detail of him being so concerned about how loud the gun will be, most Tv shows/movies would have a character fire a weapon like that in a confined space and have them act like it didn’t even make a noise when in reality you’d be deafened.

Wow I must have forgotten about this scene. Columbo shooting a gun is Big news for sure. That's what made this show so good. Peter Falk was excellent as Columbo and so were the other actors in the series. Columbo was the only cop show that didn't have a lot of gun violence. Car chases and a lot of explosions. The actors were that good.
