It’s been 9 years and this video is still very helpful to a lot of people, thank you so much ❤️❤️❤️

your videos are truly fantastic.  it's obvious you have a true understanding of the material because you give tangible examples and explain them all the way through, you even try to answer the questions you think are natural to ask to help us, the viewers, understand better.  most of the videos on here have an extreme amount of information shoved in seven minutes without any examples.  you obviously have a knack for teaching, it's so refreshing to see!!  it would be great if you'd consider doing a video on concatenative vs non concatenative morphology!!

I am late to the party, but your series on Syntax seriously saved me. I am taking my linguistics exam tonight and struggled with Syntax up until now. Thank you!

For 4 years I struggled to construct a syntactic tree diagram the bottom-up way since that’s what we were taught.

Can’t believe how clearer it is to do it your way. Thank you so much!

My English Syntax lecturer sucks like I cannot understand a single thing she says so this video and the other two parts are so easy to understand, thank you. Best teacher ever.

Evan, I am studying linguists this quarter and you have really helped to untangle everything I have been reading in my course book. You have a real talent for explaining/teaching this topic. Thank you for making the videos. I don't believe I would have had a better understanding without your explanations. Your 2014 video is continuing to make a HUGE difference. You are pretty awesome.

I teach syntax and I sometimes find that my students get puzzled when I explain the tree diagrams of certain sentences. But, having watched your video, I think now I know how to explain them, the tree diagrams, in a more understandable way. Great video, thanks

As an student from Bangladesh: You have made the hardest topic way too easier. I was literally having a lot of difficulties with this. But now I can do every tree structure on my own. Thank you Sir you made my day. 😊

Things are not too complicated. The explanation and the way to clarify them depends on teacher, thank you a million Professor you make things easiest.

I think my teachers need to these videos to know how to explain their lessons in an easy manner.
They overcomplicate things and don't give much time to hand a good explanation to the students.
You're a rare teacher.

Excellent video, thank you. From having no clue of how to create a syntax tree to getting them almost spot on alone. Keep up the great work! :)
