I met Zeus at the Irish Festival in Dallas. He's so much larger in person!

In my childhood I lived with a great dane. He was the best buddy for me. He even saved me from drowning although he was afraid of water. I managed to get to the water as a young child and he ran around me and barked to inform my parents.
When the cats occupied his place on the couch, he was too shy to shoo them away. He was such a great companion and we were heartbroken when he passed away at the age of 9.

Imagine someone breaks into their house and sees this absolute beast of a great dane

Imagine a thief entering the house and seeing Zeus. He'd die on the spot by a heart attack.

Meanwhile Zeus: I thought you came here to play. Come on let's play

Literarily every big dog is named Zeus, Bruce, or Thor 🙄

Such a beautiful boy. I personally don’t think I could own a dog with such a short life span. To get attached and then have something so special taken away. It would break me

My Great Dane Ozzi was about a half and inch shorter that Zeus, Ozzi measure ground to shoulder at 41 inches. He lived to be ten years old and the heartbreak of his passing was horrible, haven’t had another dog since. Maybe someday in the future my families hearts will heal

Great Danes are so gentle. I met one named Murray once at a dog park and he sat on my lap like we had known each other forever 😂🐾🥰

"He brings a lot joy to our family." Bingo. That's all that matters. Big Dogs Rule.

If I ever had a dog that massive, I 100% would name him/her something opposite of their stature…tiny, buddy, tinker bell, etc.

The scary thing is, this guy is only 25% taller than a large Grey Wolf.
The Dire Wolf, a now extinct species, was about this size on average.
Imagine a wolf this size coming at you.

When I was a delivery driver, I came up to a house where, upon the door opening, I was greeted by a Great Dane that just about looked me in the eye. Biggest dog I have EVER seen. The guy who ordered the pizza looked like the type that wouldn't hesitate to enforce a Do Not Tresspass sign and here was this massive, unleashed animal, so I was just a little nervous.

And then that great big beast looked up at me and flopped its whole enormous self into my torso so I could give him scratchies and pets. I almost fell over on the porch. Absolute sweetheart of a unit and a fond memory.

He's only 2. Cash is 6 and very healthy. I hope he lives past 10 comfortably.

How lucky his humans are to have Zeus as part of their family. What amuses me is that his water bowl is the sink (!). He seems to be a very mild and gentle pup. Long and happy life to you, Zeus!

I love how Great Danes are literally the definition of gentle giant. They are so huge but they really are just laidback and loving (if not a bit lazy lol)

Such a beautiful big boy. Sadly the thing that makes him so beloved, is the thing that will give him a shorter life than expected. I love dane's, but the short life span is too hard emotionally to deal with.
