Lost Pumpkins, a Lovely Breadnut and CHOP & DROP!

Rachel decided to come find me while I was string-trimming the path.
All is not well with the downhill pumpkins by the river. They decided to run off into the woods and get into a fight with luffa vines. You can see the sad results... but there is a better story to be told. The breadnut tree my friend gave me is looking really good, so I use a permaculture trick on it to keep it happy and healthy. Free mulch!

boil ackee in water with salt until soft, strain and rince with cold water, saute with onion, sweet pepper, tomato and thyme in decent amount of oil. season with salt and pepper, enjoy!

I love breadfruit, have a tree in my backyard since i can remember. Its such a versatile fruit, you can eat it boiled, smashed, fried and can even make desserts with it. Here we call it "pana" and "chuleta de palo" or tree chops(as in pork chops). That bread nut I don't like much haha the after effects are >_> well gassy! haha

You know, akee won't kill you if you harvest its flesh from a ripened (cracked open on its own) shell. At least, most Jamaicans know that. ;) I agree, it is yummy too.

why are Americans so afraid of ackee? I have been eating ackee since i was a baby and i am now 43 years old. it is my most favorite food in the world, i eat it every chance i get, never had as much as an upset stomach from eating it.

I guess your breadnut has grown out a lot by now. This is the first time I've seen this vid and I was pretty sure that plant was a breadfruit... has it produced any fruit yet?

Any ideas on why only the male blooms were out? Were female blooms developing away from the luffa?
