Hunter Biden has previously said he would only testify in a public setting.

In case anyone missed it he came to the hearing to answer any questions but the Republicans didn’t ask him any questions, so when they wouldn’t proceed he was advised by his attorneys to leave. He was there to answer questions but they had none. They refused to swear him in or question him and instead just kept grandstanding about being able to subpoena him privately instead of questioning him in a public hearing, but that fell flat because of all those republicans who ignored subpoenas and because obviously they had this chance to ask their questions. It was really ridiculous.
