In NFHS rules that is an out.  In Little League it is permitted.  Just depends on the league and what ruleset they are playing.  What rulebook is Sandy Koufax playing under?

He was out; the catcher tagged him; ump missed it; hey, it happens; the ump doesn't get to watch videos and replay it over and over like we do.

By rule that is an out. You are not allowed to jump over the catcher. Little League Baseball has a national governing body that make these rules.

All the dislikes where from the catcher and his family

The jump was just meant as a distraction to the umpire, he got tagged on the leg.

And.... you're out! If you have an umpire that knows that rule.

If your playing USSSA rules then your "OUT" for trying to avoid a tag by leaving field of play ..If your playing little league rules then that league is for "I want a be a great USSSA player one day"

To bad the catcher wasn't trained properly. Could have had him in a ambulance.
