OKINAWA MODERN HISTORY PROJECT svNOTE: This is a compilation of three major 16mm film selections and adaptations of my father's works focusing on the many faces of Okinawa's economic, social and cultural revitalization prior to their reversion from U.S. in 1972. Many American patriots were a part of that process, including Rev. Otis Bell, Rev. Cres Ketchum, Rev. Ed Bollinger and Rev. Bud Spencer ........all dedicated close friends of our family and Okinawa..

Early Naha, as the Capital of Okinawa, in its mid-1950's history was a bee-hive of activity with its markets, main streets, back streets and commercial enterprises. And the Okinawan's always showed "grace and courtesy" when doing business. Their children were my father's favorite photography subjects.

These 16mm digitized works were recently developed and are being made available to the public without "intense editing". This history project is a "work-in-progress" and research comments, factual contributions, observations and music collaborations are all welcomed.

WBM2012: The first "ALL OKINAWA EISA FESTIVAL" was held in 1956. Authenticating what year this preproduction16mm film was produced is still being researched. The Sonoda Youth Group is believed to be a part of this performance....see note below.

"Okinawa City" is the host for the Annual Okinawa All-Island Eisa Festival.
