BFI National Archive head curator Robin Baker introduces The Battles of Coronel and Falkland Islands (1927) at the 58th BFI London Film Festival. This beautifully restored silent, about two major WWI naval battles, features a new score by Simon Dobson, performed live by The Band of Her Majesty’s Royal Marines.

Craddock wanted to die fighting and did! My wife comes from Craddocks Avenue in Ashstead, Surrey, named after the great man. At least we got revenge at the subsequent battle of the Falklands.
