My wife found breastfeeding incredibly difficult, for various reasons.
My little girl largely ended up formula fed, and I think my wife took it as a failure on her part.
Not only was being unable to effectively breastfeed NOT a failure, my wife proved every day how wonderful she was. I told her every day how proud I was of her.

Just wish I could have got her to see herself through my eyes. She would have been in absolute awe.

There’s so much drama around breast feeding, some people with be outraged if you don’t and some people with be outraged of you do. Best to do what works for you, and love your baby irregardless!

My poor mumma struggled so much with breastfeeding and it ended up making her beyond exhausted, depressed, and anemic. I was very underweight and not getting enough nutrients, so I was formula fed and it’s what saved my life plus hers as well. My mumma was mocked for not breastfeeding me and that she was a failure when she wasn’t in the slightest. Fed is best no matter how baby eats as long as baby is fed and thrives.

I started out breastfeeding and then after 3 months, I switched to bottlefeeding. Some of it was for my own sanity, I had postpartum depression. I don't feel guilty about it, I did not enjoy breastfeeding, it was not this magical wonderful thing for me.

My mom wasn't able to breastfeed myself or my sister and we came out fine. Formula was made for a reason, it's most important to keep your baby healthy. 😊

When my mom chose to breastfeed my siblings & myself in the 1960’s, her sister in law thought it was disgusting that mom would choose to breastfeed instead of using formula and bottle feeding.

There are also contraptions for feeding formula or pumped milk on the chest of someone who is not lactating which is a nice bonding experience for those who want to but can’t induce lactation

I breastfed one child and not the other. While I strongly recommend it, it’s not for everyone. I’m actually closer to the adult child I didn’t breastfeed.

The questions people feel they can ask other people boggles the mind!
Some things are nobody's business.
I understand people are curious, especially about same sex couples, but don't be nosey. If you are very close to the couple you will probably already know some things and if you don't, then they obviously want to keep it private.

Due some circumstances, I ended up living with my sis and niece and we went outdoors a lot. We actually got asked that a lot, because people assumed we were lesbians and it always bogged our minds how rude and invasive complete strangers would get.

My daughter joined our family through adoption. I routinely stripped to my bra to bottle feed her when home alone and my husband never sleeps with a shirt on and would usually take the last feeding of the night. The skin to skin time while feeding was wonderful even if her milk didn't come from our bodies. I also would frequently baby wear with just a low cut cami on and a cardigan pulled over both of us. Nothing got her to sleep faster than being snuggled against my chest.

I heard a breastfeeding horror story from my mom's friend, I was around 13 watching my sisters when the friend was mentionning how painful breastfeeding had been for her and that at some point she had a big scare when she realised she had been bleeding and feeding pink milk to her baby. Later checked online and apparently it's a real thing.
