Great documentary, well deserved Oscar, especially when you consider how difficult a feat the whole event was. From Alex accomplishing Free Soloing El Cap to Jimmy's team filming it all and the story development between Alex and Sawny's relationship.

I'm so happy for Jimmy, he is amazing! Learned about him from Meru expeditions with Conrad Anker and I've been a huge fan since. People who see him only now for the first time because of Free Solo have no idea what caliber of climber and alpinist he is. Luckily he also has passion in photography and film so we got to see all the amazing places he goes to from his perspective.

Literally the only time i really cared about an oscar.so happy it got it.my favourite cinema experience ever, in a sold out theatre with the whole place gripped and collectively moved and going thru it.loved it.brilliant.

everyone is talking about alex and i get it he is the main person in the doc but i would like to point you too a Q and A he did after a screening full of climbers and he says ''when it comes to peoples opinions on the film the people he cares about are other climbers'' so im sure he is ok with the directors and producers getting some credit for an amazing doc.

Can't believe this woman took her time to thank Alex's girlfriend first during the ceremony and hurried to thank Alex when the music was already playing. So ridiculous!!
