Lumafusion’s had the iPad to itself for quite a few years. But they constantly failed to deliver on what they promised as coming soon deliverables/features. Their excuse was always a lack of resources. Well, that’s 100% on their management for failing to resolve this. Now an 800lb pound gorilla has landed on the iPad. A company with experience, resources and a history of even over-delivering on it’s promises. DaVinci Resolve for iPad, is not just an app, it’s part of a tightly integrated set of solutions, that I expect will see continuous improvements and advancements over the next year.

LumaFusion is a great company!! I hope this doesn’t discourage the team. They make a very quality professional product. Keep doing a fantastic job.

Man, I must admit, as of 2022, almost 2023, I believe Adobe should be more than capable of releasing a mobile video editor that can compete with LumaFusion and DaVinci Resolve. I imagine DaVinci will eventually be compatible with more mobile devices in time as it grows. As of now, I'd say LumaFusion still might not have much competition for for just a little while longer. I would not be surprised if Adobe releases a Premiere Mobile or something in 2023 2024 but I think their focus right now is the mobile Photoshop.

Davinci is very cool indeed. Having the possibility to change formats when exporting needs to be a must though.

I keep checking the App Store every day. Give it Blackmagic! 😂

As the LumaFusion guy on YouTube. @michael tobin missed quite a lot of key features that would have shown more of what LF can do professionally.

But, I think it’s great Blackmagic have ported DaVinci Resolve over to the iPad as it will push the guys @luma-touch to work harder on their app to keep being competitive. 🤙 Competition is good for the end user.

Using LumaFusion for years (my entire YouTube channel is made with it) i have LOVED the workflow and left FCP but am still craving MultiCam, Audio effects per channel instead of per clip and Tracking for titles etc.. but apart from them, it’s awesome.
But Divinci Resolve is the first time I wanted to investigate more. I don’t want to re-learn too much as I don’t have that much time.. but it’s a really interesting.
Hope Apple drop a BOMB and announce FCP for iPad. That would be holy grail for me.

I am very new in the world of video editing. Like 1 month ago i started editing video for youtube using iMovie and then i moved to Lumafsion. And now many talking about DaVinci Resolve, and ME the no knowledge of video editing is very excited for Davinci Resolve coming to iPad to give a try. I am still learning all of this and it is fun.

I had been using LumaFusion for well over a year and loved the convenience and what it offered. As My skills leveled up i started to transition over to FCP. My only issue with it is I actually prefer the workflow on the iPad Pro. I definitely see Davinci being a strong contender to switching to especially that this app will be available soon. Great review

DaVinci all the way. Note: You can access all of the pages in Resolve. There are a couple of videos out now showing exactly how to access them. Great review. I was total LumaFusion until DR came to the iPad. No looking back. Adobe isn’t even a contender in this grouping.

Resolve is only available for m1 iPads and higher. Lima fusion works on most older models.

Thanks for the great comparison! I have used Resolve on my computer, but never on the iPad. My desktop and even my Macbook Pro just leave a lot to be desired working in the timeline, speed-wise. I have used Lumafusion the most. I can't believe how quick and smooth it is on my iPad. It meets 95% of my needs, but I really miss speed ramping. I know you can do it manually, but it's a tedious process. Any chance that's one of the new features you've heard about? Thanks again for the great video!
