Ferrari 296 GTB v Ferrari SF90: DRAG RACE

We’ve got two incredible Ferrari hybrid supercars going head-to-head over the quarter-mile! The question is, can the newer 296 GTB beat the almighty tri-motor SF90? Well, let’s take a closer look.

Starting with the 296 GTB, it’s powered by a 3-litre twin-turbo V6 coupled with an electric motor. These drive the rear wheels and combine to produce 830hp and 740Nm of torque. It still remains pretty light, tipping the scales at 1,470kg.

Then we have the SF90. It comes equipped with a 4-litre twin-turbo V8 coupled with three electric motors - two at the front and one at the back. Combined, they produce an eye-watering 1,000hp and 800Nm, pushing this power through all four wheels. It’s a bit heavier than the 296 GTB, though, at 1,570kg.

So how will this play out? The SF90 may have more power, but the 296 is lighter! Will the weight difference prove to be decisive? There’s only one way to find out… LET’S RACE!

Really love how the 296 GTB's design tips its hat to Ferrari's older classic designs yet manages to look modern and fresh at the same time. Great job as usual Ferrari !

I think the most possible explanation for the 296 GTB pulling on the SF90 is that after 130 mph, the 2 front electric motors on the SF90 disengage, so after 130 mph, the SF90 loses a lot of hp and torque, and since the 296 GTB is 100 kg lighter, the 296 GTB will have an advantage.

Never saw Matt and Yianni this serious! Meaning both the cars are beast and if quarter mile is covered in rain in 9.9 sec it would be amazingly interesting to see them on a sunny day track!

I've reviewed both...and it was immediately clear to me that when both cars are rolling, the 296 is just as fast. The weight penalty of the SF90 and the electric motors running out of juice at higher speeds is the reason why the 296 is ever so slightly quicker past 150MPH. The Porsche 918 had the exact same issue.
