Why is good dog food expensive?
If you pay someone to make the food for you, it will cost more, and for dog food businesses to keep their costs low, they often reduce the quality of the ingredients in their meals. Sometimes to a level that could be considered as very healthy for dogs, if not dangerous.

I always try to encourage dog owners to learn about nutrition, as it's arguably the most important tool in keeping their dog healthy, out of the vets and alive longer.

I do use butchers sensitive cans but I modify it with fresh food as well I mixn in egg /cooked porridge /grated apple /blueberries @ broccoli... she loves it and has not had any stomachs upset.. So this works for me...

The amount of water added is a major concern when my dog ran out of his high quality dog food I had to find a alternative
And because I have complex mental health and physical health conditions I had to ask my Carer to get a high quality dog food I was happy because their was pedigree and bakers which is a nasty dog food in my opinion yes he had bad gas but now that he is back on his
high quality food he is thriving once again

My dogs have this food now again. The problem with raw and home cooked is it does take time to prepare/defrost. Butchers seems to be a decent choice when in a pinch and short on time but obviously not 'ideal'

Can, you mentioned All About Food and I agree but you make the same mistake. You are almost blindly looking at ingredients and percentages and still not having a clue if the nutrition of these foods! I am simply amazed by that but again, you are not alone! Yes, cooking affects nutrients but you are wrong that fresh meat is better than meat meal. Any good food company looks at the cooking process if every ingredient and allows for that. It’s the final bioavailability and the final nutrient level delivered to the dog that matters. Adding additional fiber affects protein digestibility, so you increase the protein accordingly. Corn is not bioavailable to a dog until cooked correctly, then offers energy, essential omega 3 fatty acids, dietary fiber. You have to look at nutrients and no one does, enabling dishonest food companies to produce crap and sell it at high prices. Sorry chap, but you are missing the point of nutrition.
