It's reasons like that beach house that I mainly play PvE. There are so many building possibilities that building a box almost seems like an insult to the game. The mechanics themselves are far from perfect but anything is better looking than a giant metal box.

Here's just a suggestion for others, if you guys don't have enough to build out of metal for the strong hold, before enclosing the rest of the base by stone walls, you can always put pigs for fertilizer or dinos for eggs inside there instead of the stronghold. Just a thought.

You should look up grappling hook. Quite a while since wooden ladders was a cheap defence trick.
