AGV AX8 Dual Evo Carbon Helmet Review

After almost 11,000 KM’s and two tours with this helmet, here are my 2 cents. AGV, if you are listening, get some proper anti-fogging on there and you have an awesome helmet, in its current setup and if you ride in Rain, don’t even think about it.

Lots of info, pictures, etc.. on my website, Facebook, Instagram & Twitter:

When RJ takes his helmet off...there is another helmet underneath.

Carbon after racing is best for touring. Thanks for the review RJ 👍

Manual of agv ax-8: when wearing the helmet on the motorway and at speeds of over 100 km/h (62mph), we recommend removing the peak.

I've just bought this helmet. And i admit the fogging this was annoying when it comes to rain. Then i see ur review on the fogging problems. I instantly ask my local helm store to put pinlock into my helmet. Thanks RJ

I bought an AX8 Naked Carbon only a month ago. Love it. Like you say, it's super light and the view that you get is so unobstructed it's like going from a 4:3 tv to widescreen.

Nothing got thrown at the bush. I'm disapointed!

You could be right about riding in the rain, however AGV could say you were riding in the rain with a dark visor in poor conditions rather using the correct clear visor? also the peak is called a roost flap, designed to deflect dirt or roost coming off the rear tyre of the bike in front of you on dirt tracks, not for street use really and not a sun guard, thats what a tinted visor is for..
Great honest video :)

I have the same helmet, removed visor, wind would catch it above 60mph. No issues with visor screws, mine actually had some blue locktite on them from the factory

I have a love hate relationship with my Pista GP. It's very loud and no detents on the visor meaning it's either open or closed.. no in between :(
But oh so light and aerodynamic!! <3

I absolutely agree on every point. I have the same helmet. Visor screw gets lose easily, fogs up like hell. I don't even need to ride in rain, colder winter days have the same result. Just impossible to use without opening it up every few minutes.

RJ, Slow the video down between 5:23 and 5:27 it appears you had a bit of slack in the chin strap. Take note of how the goggles stay planted or even tension up as the helmet catches the wind and moves upward independent of them because they're planted on your face. If you can bounce the helmet up and down independent of your head going up and down, your chin strap is too loose.

Couldn’t agree with you more RJ. I have exactly the same issue. Still love it for summer riding.

Fog problem fixed on the ax9, visor comes pinlock ready and with complementary insert

Would only ever ride bikes on the road, I contemplated getting this helmet because I like the look an the fact that it had the huge visor for disability unlike most sports bikes helmets which are very narrow. Thanks for the video, I'll have to consider a different helmet now because fog would be a issue for me where I live

4:57 I think you're mentioning my comment from a previous video, I was talking about an AGV GT Veloce. It uses the same visor as all of AGV's higher end sport/race helmets; GT Veloce, Veloce S, Corsa, Corsa R, Pista GP, and Pista GP R. The new Pistas cost $1400/£1050 and are still using the same visor that doesn't properly receive a pinlock and fogs at room temperature.

I've got the AGV AX8 DS Evo (not carbon) and find I have to spray and clean the visor with anti fog sprays every few days so I can see in cold/rain. Highly recommend using anti fog sprays if you have issues with your visor.

Also the seal at the top scratches the screen a little but doesn't impair vision (unless you're looking at your peak). And the chin curtain can fall out fairly easily if you're not careful, but you can buy replacements.

Good helmet, looks great but one or two little flaws (I'm sure the same can be said for many helmets)
