The original text of this song, written for the opening of the funicular railway on Vesuvius in 1880, is in Neapolitan. In the Full Vocal Version of this video, you'll hear the tenor singing a translation in Italian (written in italics in this score), which gives the song an "operatic" sound different from the original folkloristic colour, although this doesn't alter the subject of the text
