Professor Chad Greene presents a lesson for his Screenwriting (English 241) at Cerritos College that builds upon his previous video "Dramatic Structure, from the Conceptual to the Practical." In it, he introduces his students to one of the most influential forms of cinematic structure for the last forty years or so, the late Syd Field's "paradigm." Greene points out the strong similarities of Field's cinematic structure, which they will reading about this semester in SCREENPLAY: THE FOUNDATIONS OF SCREENWRITING, to the concepts his students have already learned by reading excerpts from Aristotle's POETICS and Freytag's TECHNIQUE OF THE DRAMA.

Hello, I am studying this for my Film Appreciation class at UNG in GA. I am trying to understand Field's Padigram more and I would love to see the slides you are referring to in the end of the video! I am applying this format to Creature of the Black Lagoon (1954).
