It's really nice to see you continue to work on painting and learning how to paint the things you want. With regards to simplifying, since you were working from a live reference you could actually remove the distracting elements from the boquet in order to make a composition that you were happy with and would make things easier for you. Being able to edit out what's actually in front of you will come in time and with practice. I also thought it was super clever how you used a palette knife to carve out the shapes of the rose when you realised that you were struggling. I might employ that technique myself, in the future. It's always nice to see you painting what makes you happy.

For this type of really focused studies it might help you to use a bigger paper or canvas, even if the area is really tiny.
Go from general to specific, its gonna make it easier for you to learn.

This was awesome. Roses are my favorite flower and I have so much trouble painting and drawing them. I love your persistence and the finished pieces were beautiful.

Maybe doing this on a bigger canvas would be better, like a 20” x 16” portrait. Love your paintings, you are a fabulous artist. Keep up the good work. Love Annie Queensland AUSTRALIA.

These turned out so lovely 🥰😍 the texture and colours are stunning and I’m actually obsessed with how the first painting turned out. Loved seeing all three works together at the end on the easel 💖💖

Beautiful! And thank you for sharing all the aspects of your process. I work in watercolor, but will be trying the water mixable oils sometime and will remember that palette knife technique of cutting in shapes. I was wondering where your snow was in the beginning! The morning snow shot was so pretty! Happy painting.
