While pursuing my bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN), I had a patient with rhabdomyolysis during my clinicals at LSU hospital and medical school in Shreveport, LA in the mid 1990's. I of course had no idea what it was at the time. I knew nothing of the etiology either as the patient was a poor historian. It was a learning experience for a young nursing student. Thanks for the video. Concise and to the point!

Nice video. Was a patient of rhabdo. I participated in a Spartan super race and overexerted myself during the race. During the middle of the race, I experienced searing pain in my feet and had to be carted off. I thought it was just naturally really sore but I couldnt sleep at night due to the amount of pain and swelling in my feet. I had to go to the hospital where they took tests and told me I had rhabdo. I had to get intense IV fluid transfusions and numerous blood tests until I was well enough to leave. The worst part was not being able to walk for 2-3 weeks after and the doc recommended me foot therapy exercises. Kinda felt bad for my kidneys :/

Just finished my first week of training in an intensive law enforcement course. The physical workouts were brutal, and I was stupid and didn't hydrate even close to enough for what the situation called for. Went home and woke up this morning in a state. The muscular pain is horrifying, especially in my arms which feel bloated and taut. When I peed, it looked like coca/cola was draining out of me.

That's when I started to get worried. So I did what any sane person would do and ... I youtubed it: brown pee, dark brown pee, cocacola pee, dark brown pee overtraining, dark brown urine diagnosis, etc.

Finally I came across this video. You've just gained a new sub. I've just gained a trip to the hospital to get intravenously hydrated.

Thanks!

I’ve had this condition all my life and none of my peers believe me, I’m just glad my coaches will believe. (Expect for one time with a new coach that wouldn’t let me sit out and I couldn’t move for 2 days)

Currently still recovering. They believe mine was caused by a seizure where I ended up face down. I was unconscious for an unknown length of time and when I was someone conscious I couldn’t get up, talk and lost control of my bladder. I lost memory of three days prior plus from the time of whatever caused it to when I was found 26 hours later.

I wonder if I had Rhabdo'. 3 weeks ago I ran my first marathon but 3 weeks before the marathon I suffered a minor hip injury which forced me to ease up on my training. Instead of running I walked on a treadmill and raised the incline until the treadmill was maxed out. My pace never increased, but after an hour the workout was tough all the same. I did this every day leading up to the marathon only stopping about 3 days prior to race day. On the day of the race I got intensely sore quads at mile 3. By mile 10 I was in agony, however, I was absolutely determined to finish with a good time. Considering the pain I was in I surprised myself by finishing in 2''55, I'm just a few weeks shy of my 50th birthday, so it was a good effort. Later when I peed my urine was the colour of Cola. I peed into a glass to check for blood but could not see any red, the urine was literally black, as dark as Cola. I drank a half litre of water and my second visit to the bathroom was fine. I had no other issues and would say that had I not been looking at the urine stream I would never have known anything was wrong. Does this sound like Rhabdo'?
