I might not be a NuWho fan overall (I much prefer the classics), but Eccleston is still my favourite Doctor. His performance, especially in any scene with Daleks, was just amazing.

Ecclestons performance was really great. He still is my favorite Doctor and would have love to see him for more than one season.

Eccleston is an outstanding actor, and whenever his delivery is dark and/or intense and gritty, his performance is genuinely jaw-dropping. That said, I could never properly buy him in his more comedic takes, as if he was just portraying the idea of how The Doctor should be, rather than flat out acting the part. It simply felt forced and awkward to me. Nonetheless, his confrontation with the title character for the first time in "Dalek" is an example of what I'm saying, his performance being nothing short of brilliant.

S1 is very strong and captures why the show has endured - wonder, imagination and adventure with some genuine chills and thrills. It might waver a bit in the production values, fx but it’s all heart, and much of that heart was Ecclestons performance, my fave of the nu-who doctors. Eccleston was brilliant casting and while he cut a very different figure from his predecessors he was unmistakably the same character I remember growing up watching classic who in the 80s. Fantastic!

If you enjoyed Dalek you would probably like the Big Finish audio drama 'Jubilee'. It was also written by Robert Shearman, and in fact some of its plot elements and dialogue would be reused in Dalek. It also features a lone, imprisoned Dalek. However, they are very different stories, as Jubilee has some very interesting social commentary behind it while Dalek is more concerned with (masterfully) reintroducing the Daleks as villains. Honestly, all of Shearman's contributions to Big Finish are well worth a listen. The Chimes of Midnight is one of my favorite Doctor Who stories of all time, on any medium.

Great video, thank you. Glad to see there are more like me who believe #9 was the best. I wish they could have brought him back to play "the war doctor". Regardless I think he's the best because of his abilities to do serious and silly at the same time and how well he transitions his emotions.

The ninth Doctor is definitely my favourite. It was the first TV show I watched regularly other than The Simpsons, when I was young.

I absolutely love this season and I’ve always been saying it’s my favorite. It’s the best portrayal of the doctor, the best 2 companions, has some amazing horror episodes, and is all around phenomenal

Thank you for this fantastic video. I agree 100% with you here, Eccleston's era was the best in my opinion, I enjoyed watching Doctor Who back then so much more than today. (Don't get me wrong, still love the later Doctor's, escpecially 10 & 11 but the feeling of the whole show just changed for me)

He’s how I got into the series and of all the newer series this season seemed much more special than anything that followed.

So glad I saw this so I’d know “hey, that’s the guy from 28 days later!”

This season was my first experience with DW. My first time watching it I liked it but I didn't think much of it. It wasn't till Ten came long that I really started to love the show. That being said, I went back and watched this season again recently and just absolutely loved it. I didn't fully appreciate it the first time but I certainly do now.

I loved the ninth Doctor. So intense and darker, but fun too. The Empty Child episode is up there with the Weeping Angels that give me the shivers.

Something I think worked really well for the first season was that it had the same gonzo style camera work as farspace, which gave it a very moody, sinister feeling that was also somehow funny at the same time.

Christopher Eccleston was great. I thought it was a shame that he chose to only take the role for a single season. His charecter and past could have been explored so much more. The only real competition for best Doctor in my opinion is David Tennant. Both really had a great chemistry with Billie Piper's charecter which made it feel more real than a lot of other versions.

Late to the party, well very late, but agreed; Ecclestone's season is the best of the new era.
