DaVinci Resolve iPad Pro Workflow: How To Edit Reels While Travelling

This is my professional DaVinci Resolve iPad Pro Workflow: How to edit Reels while travelling and this is the exact process that I use to edit all of my reels only using an iPad Pro. Everything I show in DaVinci Resolve for the iPad in this video is absolutely FREE. The app is also FREE to download. Now I prefer to use the Apple Magic Keyboard and the Apple Pencil 2 when editing but they are by no means necessary All you need is an iPad Pro and your finger and you can easily edit professional looking video on the go. Hopefully this gives you a glimpse into my process as I do have a full course available on my site.

Everything I used in this video:

As always, you can skip ahead to any of these chapters:
0:00 - Intro
1:30 - Editing Workflow in DaVinci Resolve for iPad Pro
10:25 - Outro

Nice video, thank you, I feel like the iPad could have been larger in the video to make it easier to see, only took up about 1/9 of the screen. I managed to zoom in so I could keep up with what you were saying. Thanks for taking the time to teach.

I just bought IPad Pro 13 inch M4
Trying to learn DaVinci and brother this video helped me a lot
I zoomed in to watch the video so no issues with this video, it’s great!

just got a m2 ipad for xmas and been doing this as well. my biggest issue has been exporting, constant fails and then a random win. Also running into issues where my grades are not coming through correctly. I know some updates will take care of this and become a workhorse.

I've been trying to get a more practical use out of my new iPad lately, and this really helped steer me in a great direction! I've been getting into DaVinci for color grading so this would be cool to do if I'm out and about doing some filming and then head to a café to do some color grading before heading home. I didn't even know there's a finder system on the iPad either, super neat! Time to get a portable SSD 😂

I was looking at you DaVinci video, but also might mention, there are backpack frontpack combos, to create balance.

Great video. Looking forward to using Da Vinci. Btw, did you opt for the 1TB spec with 16gb ram?

Awesome video. I just picked up an iPad Pro for video/photo work so I’m pumped to see a professional like yourself using that setup. Much love

My feeling is that DaVinci 19.x on iPad was an afterthought. The interface is absolutely overflowing/crowded (on 12.9" iPad Pro)--and frustrating. For DaVinci Resolve on iPad you need an Apple Pencil, Speed Editor, Keyboard, a 20w + power supply that’s continuously connected, reading glasses, and headphones. And even with all that stuff the desktop version is where you long to be, and that’s where I finish every project. Thoughts?

I love my ipad pro 12.9" w/ M2. Unfortunately, apps like Lightroom and Photoshop are fairly watered down from the desktop version. They're slowly adding desktop features, so we'll eventually get there. Something about editing on ipad with Apple Pencil that makes it a little more fun. As for iPad version of FCP... I keep wanting it to be good, but it's too far behind the competition. At this point, just gonna do the paid version of the davinci resolve ipad app. Apparently you can unlock more features through hotkeys on your magic keyboard.

Very well explained workflow ! I realy apreciate that thank you 🙏

Im on a macbook pro 16 and thinking of upgrading… im using fcpx and thinking of using DaVinci now because of your well explanation on how to use DaVinci on color grading process
And probably some ai adobe stuff

Do you think I should go for a m3 macbook pro 14inch
Or the ipad m2 is way enough to do raw footage (dji mini 3 pro and sony fx3) do you think I will save a lot of weight on my back using a m2 what is your true recommendation?

You can actually use all parts of davinci (fusion fairlight etc.) You just need to connect a keybord, press option+cmd+k, them head over to workspace on the right side of the menu that should have shown up. Click on show pages and them just ad shortcuts for all pages. If you press them after the page will appear.

The only downside is that we can realy see what you are doing because your to far from your screen maybe for the next video you could switch over the screen recording at some point so that on my phone I could see (ill be watching it again on my laptop 💻👍 and give you an extra view 😆 and a 3rd one once I need to color grade on DaVinci next time

You should work in DaVinci WG/Intermediate for your timeline colour space not Rec 709 as this provides a wider gamut to work in, before converting to Rec 709 if outputting for social media. Not my advice but seen it from a few colourists on YT. ;)

ive got a m1 macbook pro and an m4 iPad Pro. Its way faster to edit on the mb but my ipad is was faster processing footage. Might be time for me to get the keyboard!

Turbo fun fact, ALL pages are available in the ipad version of Davinci. Just gotta do some searching, and its easier with a keyboard. Once I saw that the edit page was an option I was pretty much completely sold on the ipad pro.
