Hi guys this is my update method for 6 months of learning Japanese, and 5 months with the AJATT method. Sorry for it being a bit long! Also there is more information in the description below!

There are a few things that I would like to clarify and I may miss some stuff so if you have any questions please comment below and I will answer them.

2. No, I don't think classes are beneficial, I joined more as a taster to see what it was like.
3. No I haven't learnt any "grammar" besides the main particles
4. Yes, I can listen and understand full sentences and phrases
5. Yes, I can read and understand full sentences and phrases
6. Yes, you can learn from anime
7. Yes, you can learn from having fun
8. Yes, immersion does in fact work, as long as you combine it with other tools
9. I'm currently making the "monolingual transition", unfortunately I left it a bit late as I didn't really know how to go about it. If you want some tips on how best to do it then check out the links below, more specifically Matt's channel.
10. Input is always more important the output, output comes as a by product of input
11. The next video won't be for a while as obviously I will be busy immersing :) I will still try to answer your questions though!

Good job man. Very inspiring. Looking forward to watching your 12 months video to hear about your progress.

Also no matter how much input you get you won't become able to write out kanji from memory by hand. It's a problem I still deal with, I can read more kanji than most natives but often can't write from memory. Fucking lazy kanji

Randomly happened to find your video as I was studying AJATT. Thanks for sharing your input (I am currently skimming and binge watching your videos and will comment more later :) )!

Way to go. I've been AJATTing on and off for 2 years and just recently been almost pretty much doing it nonstop after realizing that I wasn't having much fun in the first place. It seems you adopted the AJATT mindset pretty quickly, I'm curious to see how you progress.

I so appreciate you having update videos, so motivational! I wish all youtuber ajatters would've done those.

How do you sentence mine if you know barely any vocab and none of the grammar makes sense to you?

You said that after 3-4 months you would like to be able to understand 90% of Death Note. Did that happen?

Good luck on your journey! It will be worth while.

Ah the old 'keep your condiments in your room otherwise the dicks you live with will use it all up' thing.

It's nice to see someone actually putting in effort. There are many people online who just don't seem to 'get' it. People on reddit complaining that this method doesn't work because they did it for 4 hours a day for 3 months and they're not fluent.

Do 10 hours a day for 3 years and then evaluate. Do 18 hours a day for 18 months. Those are the sorts of hours needed it seems.

I know this is late, but I am fifteen and I was wondering do you think AJATT and textbooks could be good. I want to use AJATT but I do not get how it works.

Please help.

Hi! Could you please answer this? When you're watching something or reading something do you look up every word, and if so do you input those words into Anki? Or, do you just get your sentences and then stop looking up words?

Just out of curiosity, what was your MMR in dota?

Awesome progress! I've been AJATTing on and off for just over a year now and this was some real good motivation. I never stopped immersion but anki got a bit boring after 600 sentences... Time to get more icing on my cake and add some sentences :D.
quick question : are your sentences J-J?

This is crazy, man. I've noticed that the people who tend to get really good in like 5 years or less are the people who get absolutely obsessed with Japanese. Wish I had that ability. Sadly, I do not. lol. But I think that's important to know for the 95% of people who aren't going to get good that fast. :D

Can you do passive immersion while you study with anki?

What was the show you were watching? The one with the basic sentences?

Do you study for uni in japanese (like writing summaries and doing exercises in japanese instead of english)? I'm trying to get into AJATT, mostly through reading NHK news and watching anime with japanese subtitles, but whenever I try to study for my exams (uni-related) I get frustrated, because I can't easily write in japanese.

Could you suggest me how can I get my vocab to around 3000ish from scratch and master understanding manga sentences? Also how long if I start from scratch?
